I was sure that I had read something awhile back that this ride was closing sometime soon for reburbishment. Anyone out there know the answer about this?? Our boys are hoping it will be open when we visit. Thanks for the insight.

Yes, it will be down from January 7 to February 10, 2007. They are installing a single-rider line, amongst other minor refurb jobs.

When are you heading to the world? You can get the info on closing and refurbishings at the official website of WDW. When in doubt, you can always call WDW directly to get official confirmation.

I just looked up on disney and I couldn't find any information on a rehab for rock 'n' roller coaster in january. I'd be mighty bummed if I went and didn't get to ride it :sad2: Where did everybody hear that it was going to be closed???

I am also waiting patiently to hear about this--it started awhile back--mouseplanet.com STILL lists it as closed for those times, but the Disney website doesn't---I hope someone can find out the truth, because Splash is already down the whole time we are there and I want my kids to be forewarned if RnR is also going to be down! :sad2:

Well, a couple weeks back I actually asked a CM who was at the R&RC fastpass distribution area if they had plans to install a single-rider line, because I had heard the rumors about refurb here on the DIS. She said that they will be installing a single rider line and that it will be down "in January for a refurbishment".

Multiple websites have reported the dates of Jan 7 - Feb 10th though. But take it all with a little grain of salt until WDW "officially" announces it. We know that sometimes CM's are wrong and that reports are not entirely true sometimes. But I think there's a little too much smoke here for there not to be any fire.

Well, I guess we won't know until we are actually there--I just called down and the CM I spoke with said they do not list refurbs until the actual refurb is going on.? She asked me when I was coming and said Jan., she said "oh no, we wouldn't know anything about January until then. What happened to being able to find out 3 months ahead of time? We have been going on trips since 1989, and we used to call at the 3 month mark, and they would tell us exactly what rides would be down during our trip. I don't think this is fair--DW is too much of a big vacation to have to wonder if you'll be able to ride your favorite ride-it should be known ahead of time. :headache:

That's strange that they said they dont know anything about the rehab until the month of it, because Disney's website has Splash listed as down for January- so i would think they'd know if it was going to be open or closed. it's a mystery!!!!

I have called Disney CM 3 or 4 times reguarding this info. I was told each time in NO uncertain terms that it is NOT going down. They were shocked I even had heard anything like that. They said they get the closure information 6 months prior in the event of a major ride closing they have to know in order to inform guests when they book that this will be down. I said I had read that some info was coming from maybe people working with the ride, and I was told that they get the info before even the people who work the ride gets it. I do know they do inform of closures cause a friend who went to DL during the pirates closure was informed by disney travel CM that the ride would be down during the trip, and she did not even have to inquire about it. :bride: :groom:

I did read right on the official Disney website list of closures that RnR would be closed during that time. This was awhile back. Now, of course - it is no longer listed. I am taking that as a good sign! Keep your fingers crossed, everyone!

I hope that is a good sign too. It's hard to know with so many different sites and stuff. I know the website lists rehabs, but I have Birnbaums from 2005, and on the countdown list, for the 3 month mark, it has a phone number to call for the rehab list, well, I called that today too, and it only lists operating hours now, not a word about rehabs.?.? So I have no idea--I sure hope Lostgirlz is right and got a knowlegable CM--that would be great!

I find this to be really irritating. I am going to be in WDW Feb 2 - 7 and then on the cruise from Feb 7-11. If I knew for certain that the RnR was going to be down to the 10th, I would add another day on to my trip. This may be the only time my daughter gets to go to WDW and we dont want to miss one of the best rides there. But because they are being all mysterious about it, I cant make any plans. If I wait until January to make a decision about changing my plans, it will probably be too late to do so.

I really feel they should say something one way or the other so that the public would know for sure and could base their plans around it (if it was important for them to do so).

Whiterose39: I agree COMLETELY!!!!! :thumbsup2 My kids were disappointed to learn Splash Mtn. is down our entire trip, and they ask me every day if I know about RnR yet--I hate that I can't tell them one way or another. :furious: Splash Mtn. rehab had my one son in tears--my other son would be for RnR--I know these things happen that time of year--all I want is to be informed of it BEFORE driving 4200 round trip. If I could tell my kids ahead of time, it would be so much better than ruining our trip because they didn't know about it. :sad2: I don't understand why there are so many confllicting answers about this. :confused3

Today, the Mousesavers newsletter listed R&R to be closed from Jan 7 - Feb 10. (I am leaving WDW on Feb 9) :(

It does say that this info is scheduled to change and that the most updated info can be found at the Disney website.

The official Disney website still has nothing scheduled at MGM for that date? Who to trust???? HMMMM?
