Aerosmith leaving RNR?

There were a lot of assumptions a couple of years ago (has it been that long already?) that the contract was "up" on the 10th anniversary of the ride opening. That opened the floodgates from U2 to Jonas Brothers and Miley Cyrus.

Good thing none of those came through as it seems both acts have finished their time as Disney Darlings...

If it is ever rethemed it should be rethemed to a Hollywood/movie theme. Instead of a band you here film scores you could get POTC, Star Wars, Star Trek, Indy, LOTR, ect...

That's an interesting idea.

On another note, does RnR need a real band to be a good ride? Could Disney just come up with a fictional band for the pre-show, and play original/generic rock music during the ride? I know some folks love this ride because it's Aerosmith. But for me, I like it because it's a cool roller coaster.

I feel like Aerosmith "pluses" the ride. I think it's an awesome coaster, but rocking out to Aeromsith music at the same time really makes the ride better for me.

Yes. This.

Aerosmith is also one of those rare bands to have had a second act arguably as good as its first.

The band's of the late 80s and early 90s holds up well against its mid-70s body of work, and they were culturally relevant during both periods -- and, let's face it, there aren't many 70s rock bands (or even 60s bands) that can make a similar claim.

From the point of view of building a theme park ride around them, that means you have music that literally reaches across generations -- if you came of age in the 1970s, Aerosmith was part of the soundtrack of your generation.

And if you came of age in the late 80s/early 90s... Aerosmith was part of the soundtrack of your generation.

make it RnR starring dMb!!!

Always found it funny when Jimi Thing was playing in the que and no I do not think it was appropriate.

However would love it.

It needs the music. Aerosmith or not does not matter. Having ridden it when the music was not working, it made me nauseous. Having the music allows me to focus on it, which removes the problem of nausea.

I hope that made sense.

Like I said before, I like RnR as a coaster. But I think it's better when you add Aerosmith it makes it a better ride.

RnRR starring John Williams???

I can see a Star Wars theme working for the ride as a hyperspace jump but I think it's better as is with Aerosmith.

If you absolutely must replace the band make it something comparable, something you can enjoy not a flash in the pan band.

But if it were to happen I think we're more likely to see a RnRR starring Miley, Jonas, Muppets or even Imagination Movers than another adult band... which is a shame as it will primarily at this point be done to save a dollar for new licencing.

Please no more Star Wars themes haha. I may be the only one in the entire world that is not a fan of Star Wars... I can't wait to hit up the new attraction but jeepers the thought of more Star Wars anything does not excite me lol. :rotfl2::crazy2:

Well know John Williams didn't do Star Trek and I don't think he did LOtR?

No he didn't, but Kronk N Tink was only giving another possibility...he did do a number of such themes - TV themes as well, back when he was "Johnny Williams".

Then again, such a list of movie themes belongs more in GMR than RNRC - I'm not sure most of them fit really with a rollercoaster.

My point exactly... John Williams is just the most well known composer I could think of ;)

Actually now that I'm thinking about it if they really wanted another rock band that might be cheaper they could go ZZ Top

This is pointless. Aerosmith's "contract" will run out about the same time as Buzz Lightyear's.
