I am renting points and the renter wants a Disney Dining Plan. Member Services requires me to make the arraignments and pay for the plan during the call. I want the renter to pay. What is the best way of doing this? I would think the renter does not want me to have his credit card information.

Thanks for any input.

I've read a post on the boards about the member using 3-way calling. Call the renter, call member services; hold the phone away from your ear as the renter is giving MS their credit card info. Of course, the renter would have to trust that you WILL hold the phone away. But, then again, renting points (even with a contract) is an exercise in trust from both parties! :goodvibes

Get the exact amount for the DDP from MS. Have the renter mail your a Disney (or other Visa/MC) gift card in that amount. Call and add the plan using the gift card as payment.

Or tell them, so sorry, you cannot do it.

Or, you can add the cost of the DDP to the price of your points rental and collect the payment per the terms of your rental agreement...

I actually don't know how Disney handles cancelled reservations that have paid-for DDP attached to them...presumably, Disney issues a refund...you could add to your agreement that in the event of cancellation you'll return the DDP cost as soon as Disney returns it to you...

Good luck!

I had my renters paypal me the money for the DDP plus the paypal fee. Easy peasy.

I did the three way calling when I rented out points and the renter wanted to add the DDP. I just explained to the MS representative that my "friend" wanted to add the DDP to his reservation and that I was going to 3-way him so he could give her the info. And then when the renter wanted to add someone to the reservation and DDP I just called MS and they billed the card on file from when he first added the DDP. Talk to the renter to see what they're comfortable doing =) Having the renters PayPal the money + fees for the DDP does sound like a smart idea.

I, too, have gone the Paypal route with my last 2 renters. Once the payment is safely in my bank account, then I'll add it to the reservation. No fees involved at all.
