Hi all! Ok just crunching some numbers (using the 2005 rates so I am allowing for a price jump) and it is coming between a moderate (most likely CSR because we have never stayed there) or All Star Movies. Here is how I broke it down- $1675 for 6 nights at ASMo with dining or 5 nights at CSR with dining for $1818. Obviously we lose a day and it is still more $$ if we do CSR but a moderate would be nice. It will just be me, DH and son 9. We might take along the aero bed for son so DH and I can each have a bed. Main concern is cheerleaders at ASMo and lots of noise. What would you do? Go for less days and pay more or just tough it out at a value? We are trying to keep it as budget friendly as we can. Thanks! Oh-Feb 5-11 is when we plan on going.

At WDW you always "get what you pay for." The Value rooms are smaller and the resort will have less staff and amenities. The Moderates offer nicer theming, snazzier pools, slightly larger rooms, and sit-down restaurants. If you will enjoy a nicer resort then go for the Moderate. If you will be running around most of the time anyway a Value may do you fine. Go on over to AllEarsnet.com, as well as here on the DIS, and look and pics and read reviews of the resorts. One may appeal to you more after doing a little research. Hope this helps get you started. My family personally feels the Moderate resorts are a good combination of amenities and value, but one extra night in Orlando is always good!

I think the poster above gave you some very good advice :goodvibes For me, I would probably opt for the extra night at Disney... :wizard:

Have been at the value resorts during football season, very crazy time there, lots of kids, lots of noise.

Moderate rooms have a curtain that runs across the doorway to the sink area/closet area of the room, this allows someone to be showing/changing etc.. without disturbing those who are sleeping.

Pools at moderates have a slide which a 9 yo boy would love

Carribean Resort actually has one of the larger rooms at 340 ft versus 314 at most of the moderate resorts. Near the main pool area they have a food court (like at a mall) and a sit down restuarant. You can rent those little mouseboats which kids also love riding in or bikes all in the resort area.

Heres something to consider, the moderates come with a coffee maker and you can request a refridgerator (at NO COST), so pick up some breakfast food (you could probably purchase one of those 9.99 toastersand bring that). Not only will you save time, but money too by eating breakfast in your room.

Have a great time

i would check out POR-AB Section... they have the trundle bed for ds so you and dh can each have a bed! we're very excited to try a new resort or two on our upcoming trip...

At no cost? At the moderates? Are you absolutely sure? We use refrigerators every time we go and, unless they are medically necessary (which ours are), the moderates (Caribbean Beach) explain to you that there will be a daily charge.

I would say you ahve to consider how long are you actually going to spend in your room? Are you the kind of family that goes to the park and stays there all day or do you come pack to the resort rest midday and then go back out? If your like us we go to the parks all day! We do park hop but we rarely come back to the resort for a mid afternoon rest. If this is you I would say go for the value resort! And extra day in WDW is and extra day in HEAVEN!!! On the other hand if you do spend a lot of time at the resort I would say pick the Mod. Hope this helps!!!

Moderates and Deluxes now include fridges, FREE OF CHARGE. When we stayed at Carribean Beach this March, not only was there a little fridge in the room, but it was inside a nifty little wooden cabinet painted a funky blue that matched the decor!

I would take the extra day at the value vs coronado....your 9yo will probably like the whole atmosphere a lot more, we just got back from CS and have stayed at all the deluxes and mods and while it was nice it was my least favorite...I dont know how much time you plan on spending at the hotel....if you think you will be at the parks most of the time go with the value....youll save more money and when you check in, tell the front desk that you would like to be as far away from the cheerleaders as possible. Come to think of it we were at Coronado for about a week and I dont think I saw 1 kid the whole time. It was a lot of suits and business people everywhere....but a lot of people say thats a good thing because the busses to the parks from the resort are kinda empty. Another option if youre into it would be to split your stay, do 3 nites at ASMo and 3 nites at CS, that takes the edge off the price of the mod, and youre first few days you will be in the parks most of the time (while you are at ASM) and then youre last few days can be a little more relaxing, you have the nicely themed pool and more dining options at your resort. We always split our stay, they even send the luggage over if youd like, we are out of one resort and in the other within an hour. Just a thought

I have stayed at moderates and last year at Pop Century. I find even when we stay at the moderates - we don't spend that much time at the resort. I didn't have any problems with Pop Century. I would definitely choose an extra day and stay at a value.

CSR is our favourite! The resort grounds are gorgeous and we liked the tropical feel of the Casita section. We really enjoyed our stay at CSR.We have stayed at POR and ASMusic. It was more peaceful and we felt like we were having more of a vacation even though we spent most of our time in the parks. The buses were empty compared to other resorts. We plan to go back to CSR. Save money by eating breakfast and snacks in the room using the free fridge and stay the extra day.

Hi! I am in the same boat - trying to decide whether to go with a value or a moderate... My question is when do the cheerleaders descend upon the All-Stars? We are going this September - will we be affected by them? If this is the case, it will definitely help me make up my mind!

we've stayed at two moderates (POFQ, CB), one fancy shmancy (AKL), and one value (POP) I had originally vowed never to go to a value but I had never even been to one or seen one when I said that LOL ... I'll admit I ate crow! I *love* the POP and will probably not stay anyplace else now!!!! LOL
