advise on ebay seller

I bought some disney pins from a seller that was a registered user since 4/04. I did receive those pins. I bought some more from the same seller and just found out that she is no longer a registered user. I am afraid of paying ($300). I will be paying by paypal but why would someone stop being a registered user. I did notice that all of her auctions were pulled. Should I cross my fingers and pay by paypal or should I email her and tell her I retract my bid. Any advice would be helpful. Thank you in advance.

I would look at her feedback and if its all good, email her. If not, I would email ebay and ask them why she is no longer registered. If you pay with Paypal, use a credit card. That way, you can still do a chargeback after your 30 day window with Paypal chargebacks is up. If you email the seller, she might be able to give you a good reason why she is no longer registered. Maybe she didn't pay her seller's fees.

Do not pay! I would email her and see what she says. If you pay via Paypal get the insurance! If all of her auctions have been pulled and she is no longer a registered user you can no longer leave feedback nor can she for you. I think its fishy. If she just joined 4/4 the bill isn't even due yet and certainly not long enough to be suspended. Be careful $300.00 is alot of money to lose! Good luck!!!

I agree with Aliisa - don't pay until you get things figured out. $300 is a lot to lose. Email the seller to find out what is going on. Also, email eBay. Good luck.

I too would be VERY wary of paying $300.00 to someone who 1. is brand new and 2. no longer a register user. Even if she has positive feedback, what is it for? Is it for buying small ticket items? I understand that you have bought from her before but how much was that purchase for.

I would never buy anything over a few bucks from someone who hasn't been with eBay for a while. Especially a brand new user. Lots of scam artists out there.

There could be a legitmate reason....I had it happen to me once...and I'm embarressed to admit why...but here you go!

I had just started selling and things were going well. I'd always do my auctions on Sundays and wouldn't check them until Saturday nite or Sunday morning. I enjoyed the surprise. Well without my knowledge my darling DH was bidding on some of my items...he has his own ebay user ID & he had never won and I never picked up on it. Well ebay apparently tracks by IP address and I got up on Sunday morning to check my auctions and they were all gone! I checked my email me and here I was on warning for "shilling" I was so MAD! I sent off an email that no one here would do that and it wasn't true...called DH at work (he is a chef and works weekends) and he confessed...I could have killed him. I had 2 pages of auctions!! Well they allowed me back w/ just that warning. Thank goodness but you would have thought I had been arrested..I was mortified! So there is my confession... I would email her... you never know what happened!

I've only been a buyer so far (hoping to start selling soon), but I ran into trouble once when we switched e-mail accounts. I hadn't updated it through e-bay right away (innocently - didn't realize I needed to. Anytime I won, I contacted the seller immediately and supplied my new e-mail address) Anyhow, I was still bididng on things and it caused a stir. Not sure if I ended up unregistered or not, but I needed to straighten things out before bidding again!

That said, I wouldn't send the money until I knew for sure what was going on!

I was almost suspended recently. I changed my credit card for selling fees and I apprently entered it in wrong. My first coresspondence from ebay was that my account was pending indefinite suspension. I would have appreciated an email stating they were having a problem with my credit card but didn't get one.

O.K. there may be a couple of legitamate reasons. But if thats the case she should have emailed you and explained the situation right away.
My husband bought a $200.00 tool from a new seller. After about 2 weeks and still no tool I emailed him- he said it was on backorder and he would let me know when it came in (which he can't do) so I emailed him back to just refund the money. Well sure enough the next day "not a registered user".
I have heard lots of stories of sellers using stolen credit cards to register, selling what they could in a week (usually stolen) and then disapear. So I would be super cautious. Better safe than sorry right? Let us know how you make out

If a buyer is no longer registered DO NOT PAY for the auction until you can confirm that your seller is not NARU'd for something against Ebay rules.

The seller replied to me and just said that there was a glitch with ebay but all packages bought through ebay will be shipped. So what is the concensus. Should I pass?

You might contact ebay and ask them why the seller was NARU'd. It might be as the seller stated a "glitch" but it might be more.

Personally I would tell the seller that until things are cleared up through ebay that you can not make payment.

BTW - I am pretty sure that you are not covered for your loss through ebay / paypal if the seller is NARU'd.

If it's just a "glitch" as the seller claims, then tell them that you'll pay as soon as the "glitch" is corrected.

Honestly, I don't believe them. I wouldn't pay a dime until the seller is back in good standing with Ebay. I don't believe Ebay will disclose to you why the seller is showing naru'd.

If the seller is on the up and up, they'll understand your concern and will be happy to wait until this is cleared up. If they aren't understanding it's a pretty good clue something's going on.

Once a seller is no longer registered, you are no longer protected under eBay's fraud division (unless you had paid BEFORE they were unregistered).

I would NOT pay it. They can't post feedback if they are not registered, so you don't have to worry about that consequence.

I've been selling/buying on eBay for over 4 years, and have only run into that once - I bought the item and only after I sent the payment they became NARU. I never got the item. And because it was under $25 (it was $24.99), I couldn't get my money back from eBay either...

I woudn't do it...but the choice is ultimately yours. I guess I would consider the fact that I got another item from this person....I may be willing to take more of a "risk" because of that, but $300 is a LOT of money!!!

I agree with plummer925 don't pay it until things are straightened out with eBay. If the seller is a legitimate seller and it was really a misunderstanding with eBay then they will understand your caution.

It's really hard to walk away from a deal - twice as hard to walk away from Disney Pins!!!

I'm sure that it will all work out in the end - now you have that $300 to spend on OTHER pins!!!

Do not pay. If they are unregistered something is going on and you won't be covered by Ebay. You can't leave them feedback if they are naru'ed and neither can they. Save your $300.00 for other pins.
