I've been accepted for the spring 2015 DCP and just wondering if any past participants have any advice. On what to bring. What now to bring. Anything really. Wanna be as prepared as possible. Any advice would be much appreciated

I'd say at least two formal outfits (think fancy seminar), a pair of black polishable shoes, laundry basket & supplies, a couple of sweaters/jackets for semi-cold days, and at least 200 USD for food/hygiene products/misc.

If you are going to take classes there in person, bring more formal clothing. You'll need a big umbrella for rain and some flip flops too.

I personally overpacked clothes, I didn't wear anything for cold weather, although I termed earlier this month so idk how cold it can get.

Depends on if you're flying or driving. Go light on the clothes, I wore the same thing all the time + costume. Take a few vital shoes. Definitely bring one or two professional outfits for classes and traditions.

We took coupons and went out and bought a ton of toiletries, kitchen things, general life things at home (where it was cheaper) before I went and I had supplies that lasted me the whole 6 months. Of course that won't work if you're flying. Coffee maker, nonperishable foods, sheets and comforter, pictures and other things from home you want. Laundry basket (no elevators, I took one that rolls on the ground, might be easier).

For Dec/January, definitely bring a couple pairs of jeans and long-sleeved/sweatshirts. It's nice during the day but around 9 it can be cold (for Floridians at least). I wore Fall type clothes mostly in dec. You won't need as much as you think and you'll forget the most general things but you can buy those the first few days you're there.

Bed risers are great. It helps make more room under the bed for storage. Bedding of course (twin size) and a decent mattress pad/egg crate thingy as the mattresses are supposedly not so great.

Get a twin size bed bud protector for the bed. Also a mattress pad of some sort. I brought one suit case of clothes. You won't know 100% what shoes you'll need until traditions when you get your location so bring about 100 jus for work shoes. I say 100 because you do not want to cheap out on your work shoes. I know people who only spent 20 on their shoes and always had hurting feet at the end of the day. I spent 60 on my and was fine even after 14 hour shifts.

if you are driving bring a tv with you and vacuum. If not plan on buying them. You can get a vacuum from housing but it never worked well for us.
