Thought I'd share a funny thing that happened at work today. A co-worker stated that her friend was taking his Dad, Niece and Nephew (they are adults) to Disney in March. He recently booked it through AAA, staying at Coronado Springs from March 17-24 and will be receiving a $750 gift card for each person. I did try to correct her but she insisted that she was correct. Oh well :confused3.

She then said that she told him that I go to WDW a lot and she would ask me to recommend dining places because he was on the dining plan and was going to make his reservations later today.

He didn't make any dining reservations yet :lmao: and he's on the dining plan :lmao:.

So, I give her a list and put LeCellier down first --I know, I'm bad--- and several other suggestions. I tried to give places at resorts (like Kona, The Wave, Boma, etc) because maybe he might be lucky in getting a reservation. Well, a little later she comes to me and said that she emailed him the list and he responded that he was thankful that I gave him the suggestions BUT his traveling companions won't want to sit down for a meal...that's not what they are there for :confused3. I asked again what dining plan he was on and she stated the regular one. I told her he might want to retink that since he'll be waisting table service credits but she said that they were just going to wing it.:laughing::laughing::laughing:

I had to chuckle to myself after she left---some people just don't get it!

:rotfl2: These are the people who complain about Disney! No planning, no nothing and then they complain that their trip was horrible! Oh well....kind of serves them right in a way!

Well at least my parents won't be the only one with confused, hungry faces at WDW at that time. They're going 3/15-3/19. No dining reservations-"I'm sure we'll find someplace to eat whenever we're hungry". And they don't want to "waste time" doing shows-just rides, rides, rides all day. Did I mention they're almost 80 yo? Even I can't keep up that kind of schedule all day.

I would cut off all conversion with the co-worker. This is the type of person who will tell the entire office that YOU ruined his vacation because he followed your suggestions. :scared1:

Been there... done that.

So sad!

My DH says thast every trip...."I don't know why you go so crazy making these reservations! Look..there's an empty table right there...."...ok Honey, just be quiet and enjoy your dinner!

I don't think it's THAT big of a deal.

ADRs are really bad during the "free dining" period. Other times, not so much. Even though it's spring break time, there will be thousands of others who didn't plan in advance.

I just plugged March 17-21 in the on-line booking system (only lets you put a max 5-day range) and it offered me a table for 4 at Le Cellier for 3/17 at 5:30pm. Not bad at all.

I don't have any experience with walk-ups so they may be in for a rude awakening in that regard. But it's not like every theme park and resort restaurant is going to be packed to the gills for the entire week.

WOW - how can people spend thousands of dollars on a Disney vacation without doing some sort of research first? It's such a shame that their vacation is likely going to be ruined from the get-go when they realize that their gift card is less than they thought, coupled with the fact that they are paying for a dining plan that they won't be using.

We have a saying in the South that is appropriate here: bless their little hearts. :sad2:
