I have an opportunity to rent points for a studio at SSR on July 17-19 for a quick Daddy-Son trip. I preferred VWL, my favorite resort, but I've been told that it's booked up - as are all other studios at all other DVC resorts.

I'm a little concerned about booking the SSR studio - it's removed from the parks, the hotel clusters, etc., and we like being close to the parks. However, it would give us an opportunity to experience SSR, and we've been considering buying into DVC.

Does anyone have a feel for whether anything is likely to open up other than SSR for a July trip? Thanks for your thoughts.

Call MS on the 31st day before arrival. Lots of people cancel then to avoid pts going into holding. You may get lucky! :thumbsup2

Actually, you'll need the member you plan to rent points from to call for you if you are not a member.

While you are at WDW check the room models. You'll get a better feel for the 1 & 2 bedroom accomadations before you buy. And you may never do a studio again, since you will want the larger rooms.

Also, I don't think being at SSR will be a problem for you. With Disney transportation you will be at the theme park of your choice in a matter of minutes...and Downtown Disney is right across the water. :sunny:

SSR is only minutes away by foot to DTD. They have LegoLand, Rainforrest Cafe, Disney Quest, Mcee Dee's all kind of things go on over there. SSR also has a community center with activites for all ages that go on all day and afternoon(and don't forget the ARCADE). The studios have mini kitchens(little fridge, micro, toaster, coffee, sink) for juice, milk, soft drinks, and such. The Artists Pallette has healthy snax and menu. The Rocks pool has a water slide and the pool zero entry for the little ones. You can rent bikes of all sizes and there 's even a carriage ride in the afternoons. Andddd, don't forget the play areas, near the leisure pools and by some of the bus stops!

I think you and your son would have a great time. The buses are generally prompt. Generally speaking, you might have a good chance of getting a studio :) if you try (with the help of your renting member). You might find you and your son will really enjoy SSR. Hope you have a great trip, no matter where you stay! Remember, it's all in the eye of the beholder!
