I've been sick since Sunday, I had a fever of 99.2 and it held steady at rate since last night, then it went up to 102 and it hasn't gone down. My entire body hurts, skin and all, my ears, my head, everything, and to make matters worse, aunt flo came so I have cramps too.

I spoke to my Dr today and told him about the fever and he said not to take any meds until Ii take my echocardiogram tomorrow morning at 8:45 AM. He said he would see me at 10:30 am and give me an IV. But i'm in a lot of pain and it seems odd that he is okay that i've had a fever of 102.8 for nearly 24 hours.

Should I follow his advice?

Also, I'm home alone, just me and the dog, Dear SO won't be back from a business trip until tomorrow at 8pm. I can barely sit up, yet alone drive, the only way I can get to the hospital is by taking a taxi or asking my boss.

No advice here, but hope you feel better soon!
I don't know your medical history (why your having a echocardiogram) but can it be postponed? I would call the dr back and tell him how bad your feeling. :grouphug:

Sounds like the flu- that is what my daughter had a week or so ago. It had to run its course for about 3-4 days. Try to take something like Tylenol to get you through the night for the fever. She really felt horrible for a day or so and then it was gaining some strength back the rest of the time.

I hope you feel better soon!

It took 6 weeks to get my echo appointment and he really wants the test done, I can't take meds because it can affect the test results.

Follow his advice, he's trying to get a good read on what you have and not wanting you to mask the symptoms. That said if you spike higher, I'd go to the ER. I'm hoping you feel better soon hon. :tink: PP&D for you :tink:

honestly since you're going to be at the Dr's tomorrow morning I would just suffer through tonight. Take a long hot shower, drink plenty of fluids, and get some rest.

You can take lukewarm baths to lower the fever. Not so cold it's miserable, but not the normal hot bath you would prefer. That would probably help some of the pain a little too.

Aww, poor thing. Sounds miserable. Hope your doctor gets you all fixed up in the morning!

I hope you feel better soon. I would probably not take anything either due to the test you are having done. I wonder if drinking some Gatorade can help you feel a little better. If you've been running a fever for days, you could be dehydrated. Keep those liquids going down & if you feel worst, I would call a neighbor & have them take you to ER or an Urgent Care facility. As someone else posted, I too thought of the flu immmediately. If you're sick with the flu, would doc still do a an echo on you? :confused3 Sending Pixie Dust your way....sounds like you can use it by the buckets right now!

Really?? I have had numerous Echo's over the past 7 years and have never had to withhold medication.

I sure hope you feel better soon. It's misserable to sit a wait to feel better.

Are you asking if you should follow your doctor's advice versus the advice of 70000 virtual aquaintences? ;)

Hope you feel better.

Thrilled to hear you're having an echo done. If it's the flu you've got, sure it's miserable now but it will pass in good time. Your heart is something I've been concerned about since reading a few of your past posts. Be sure and update us all when the results are in. Fingers crossed here for a good report! ::yes::

Went to the Doctor and didn't get the Echo because I've been sick with a fever for so long that my results probably wouldn't be accurate.

I saw my regular doctor, my temp dropped to 94, my BP was high, my pulse was 161. He ran a strep test and some blood work, don't know when I will get the results. He told me to go home hydrate and rest, he didn't give me anything at all :sad2: . At least the fever is gone, but my voice is gone and I feel like i've been run over with a dump truck!

I haven't eaten since yesterday morning when I ate a step 1 geber baby food apple sauce (only thing I could swallow) and I've lost 6 lbs since last Friday, I now weigh 109 and I'm 5'9''

I hope you're feeling better soon! When I'm feeling sick like that, the only thing I want to eat is egg drop soup--my favorite sick food.

Anyone around that could run out and buy you a six-pack or two of Boost? You can get the regular or high protien.. It's very good for you - has lots of vitamins and minerals.. DD loves the chocolate, I love the vanilla.. They have strawberry too, but neither of us cares for that - leaves a funny after taste.. I drink Boost constantly because I don't eat the way I should and my doctor has told me that it has played a big part in keeping me healthy and keeping my weight level at 102 lbs.. :) Most pharmacies have the Boost (as well as most grocery stores) but usually Walmart has the cheapest prices..

Hope you feel better soon! Oh - and chill that Boost good - even if it means having to put the first one in the freezer for 15 minutes or so while you put the rest in the fridge.. ;)

I've never heard of boost. Maybe I'll send SO when she gets back home tonight.

I really want some corn chowder, I only like it from 1 place though and I don't feel like going.

Here's a link to their web page so your SO will know what to look for:

http://www.boost.com/index.html

Forgot to mention they also have it with fiber now, but we haven't tried that yet.. :)

Well I'm sorry you didn;t get your echocardiogram, But look at it this way, You're gorgeous, at your height and weight you could try out for "America's Nest Top Model" *grins* Did I make you laugh? I hope I did.

Rest, rehydrate and relax. Get the Boost or Ensure, and remember your friends are here.
