Advice please!

So I booked a room for my mom and neice for october. My niece does not want to go. My mom will not go alone. I am already going two weeks before them. I have a UY of March. I used some borrowed points. I am not sure if I will have to cancel the reservation, we are still talking with the niece. I don't want to lose those points. Does anyone have any suggestions for me??

Not knowing how your points were really allotted for each reservation, I'm just going to give a broad suggestion.

Since you are going two weeks earlier, and you have to cancel your Mom's reservation, you could request DVC reallocate the 2012 points that were borrowed for your mom's reservation into your reservation and then you can bank the 2011 points that are currently in your reservation to 2012. I'm assuming you didn't borrow points for your own reservation too. You're still within the banking period for a March UY so you have time to find out what your niece wants to do but don't wait more than 31 days before your mother's reservation date, because the points for her reservation will go into holding.

Oh Wow! I didn't even think about that!
I did not borrow for my reservation. I think I borrowed 40 for my mom's. That's a great idea! I will see if that could work!

If you aren't able to switch the points used, you could always sell your niece's reservation. I know you'd like to have the points back, but if it's impossible, you could at least get something for them. Just a suggestion in case your Plan A doesn't work. Good luck.
