Hi everyone,

I know we have only just got back but already planning next trip:cool1:

Have been a few times now but only ever a package with virgin - can anyone tell me how thompson and BA compare?? both these companies are about £400 cheaper than virgin

Also how does flying to Sanford compare with MCO??

Thanks for your wisdom:thumbsup2

Sx

I can't really offer much advice as I've never flown with Thompson or BA. However, I can say that Sanford is a much smaller airport than MCO and is further out than MCO. Also, if you plan to use Disney's Magical Express this isn't an option at Sanford.

Sanford is alright. MCO is far bigger, but if you are used to the place, you can get through in a reasonable time, I have used Sanford twice and both times it took a while to get through everything.

Bottom line - go where ever it is cheaper.

Only been to Sanford once, really bad experience. 6 hour delay coming home , immigration line really slow on arrival. Horrible Dollar agent when picking car up but many others prefer it to MCO.
As Kevin says go wherever is cheapest, I would.

Never flown with Thompson. Flown with Virgin and BA and both have been fine. I would prefer to fly into MCO as your closer to Disney and can use the Magical Express if your staying onsite.

Conversely to the others, the one time we flew into Sanfford it was much quicker. granted, we didn't have a hire car - we were using Virgin transfers - but we had our cases and were through immigration and customs in about 30 minutes.

Its 7 years ago for us Joh so I am sure its a far better airport now.

As Thompson is a charter airline you usually get slightly less legroom than on BA & Virgin, I think you also have to pay for baggage and meals with Thompson (anyone else confirm this?) so make sure you add this into your final costings.

I have only flown into Sanford once and had a long wait in immigration (10yrs ago so hopefully better now) but the main draw for us with MCO is using the free Magical Express when you stop onsite. If your stopping elsewhere Sanford is about 44mins/1 hr away and MCO about 20/25 mins away.

BA are offering lower prices at the moment to win back business after all the strikes (and so they should ) I tend to go with other airlines as Gatwick doesn't work well for my family as were too far away; Manchester or Heathrow are much more convention. If someone would start up a direct Birmingham flight into MCO that would be perfect ;)

Thomson advertise more leg room than either BA or Virgin, I have not checked to confirm http://www.thomson.co.uk/editorial/press-centre/33-legroom.html
Meal is included but luggage depends who you book with, some sites include, others you have to add extra.
I believe drinks are to pay for extra.

Went in 2004 with Virgin and last year with Thompson, we stayed off site both times in villas.
Found Sanford much easier than MCO, drive into Orlando was easy using toll, just make sure you have some change for toll booths.

We upgraded to premium with thompson, well worth the cost imo great leg room and my DH is 6ft 2. Food ok and increased luggage allowance.

we still saved over virgin, even with the upgrades.

goo luck x
