Ok,

so I am considering adding the Quick Service Dining Plan to our upcoming trip. I need to decide today as I believe the window will close.

We have AP's, we are DVC, and we have TiW. However, for this trip we have only one sit down meal planned and that is the night of our MVMCP tickets, the 22nd and we are doing the Jungle Canteena. I keep trying to get BOG, but no luck. Anyway, the party consists of my 73 year old mother (who ordered nothing but room service on the last vacation. We're staying at a moderate this time, so no more of that for her), my husband, our son, and myself. None of us are big eaters with the exception of my husband at breakfast. He loves him some breakfast.

We have no park days planned, only parties, and will spend most of our time at our resort (POR), what should we do? Should I buy the QSDP? I don't know if my AP will get me discounts at the resort quick service (haven't looked into it) and if we choose to sit down it will probably be Boatwrights. I know my husband will do quick service breakfast each morning. I know we all want a mug.

Based on what I can think to tell you, what do you suggest?

Let's look at the discounts you already get. AP's, DVC and TiW don't have many quick Service discounts. But they do have some.

But it is really hard to save money on the Quick Service Dining Plan.

I wouldn't do it. I think you will end up leaving money on the table.

Yeah, at best you have 1 child with 3 adults (depending on your son's age), and QSDP is a poor financial move if you don't have at least 1 child per 2 adults, preferably more. I'd stick with out of pocket, or, if you want a prepaid feel, get some Disney gift cards for the same price as QSDP and whatever is left becomes shopping cash!

Go OOP. Breakfast will be the less expensive meal out of the day and you'll come out ahead if most of you are snackers instead of large meal people.

Here's a list of restaurants that you'll get the AP 20% off, which overlaps with TiW. Notable monorail QS are Contempo Cafe, Capt Cook's, and Gasparilla, with Pecos Bill in MK.

Sassagoula at POFQ takes TiW. Boatwrights is covered by AP and TiW while the River Roost lounge takes TiW.

Thanks everyone. OOP it is!!

BTW, DH and I did a quick anaylysis and if we take the cost of a QS at $17 average each, $4 snack, and a daily breakdown of the cost of the mug, the QSDP is actually MORE per day than paying for those exact things OOP!!

$17 x 2 = 34
+ $4
+ $4.38
------------
$42.38 - I included tax in my figures, so Disney is costing a minimum of $2 per day, per person more than OOP.

And yes, we're more snackers than we are eaters.
