Advice on zhu zhu pets please!

My dd has just gotten into zhu zhu pets. Appparently some of her friends at school have been allowed to play with them-which is how she found out that the darn things existed! I put it off as long as I could but finally broke down and got one for her. I had to go to two stores to find them, they were completely sold out at the local Target. Walmart had about 10 and we were lucky-they did have a pink one.

Now dd will not put her hamster down for a minute and even wants to sleep with it. Her 5th b-day is next month and I want to get her some accessories and things but want to hear from people who have them which bits and pieces are worth buying and which ones their kids play with the most.

Also does anyone know when the new generation of hamsters are supposed to come out?

we have the hamster ball which makes it run round the room in the ball like a real hamster
we also have the main hamster run thing which has the 2 circle bits and the tunnel in middle. we bought a wheel to expand it and it was a total waste it runs in it but not runs out so it just stays on wheel and she doesn't really bother with it that much
i prefer the ball it takes up less space and she plays with it more

also you could try getting a second hand one. we were lucky as my neice had got the hamster and run thing and as she is older she got bored with it after a few days so we got it from them

They have clothes for the Zhu Zhus now, too. I"d get some of those and skip the plastic fun houses, etc. I got my DS a bunch of the stuff for Christmas and the only thing he plays with is the actual hamster.

Be VERY carful letting your DD sleep with it. If it accidentally turns on, it could get her hair all tangled up in the wheels.

My dd only played with the hamster, and that was probably for a week. She has the car and garage. It is made very poorly and does not stay together well. The plastic does not really match up.

I second reminding her about putting the hamster close to her face. On Christmas, my 4 year old daughter gave it a kiss and it grabbed one of her curls. I had to cut the silly hamster out of her hair.

Zhuzhu pets are not that hard to find anynore. Walmart* is usually packed with the accessories, and most everything can be found at Toys Are Us. Right now, the V3 hamsters can only be found at Toys Are Us. May 15 the new Kung Zhus come out.

groan... As far as I'm concerned these are stupid toys!

However my daughter received a Wal-mart gift card as a present, and she also found (the last) pink Zhu-zhu hamster.

I refuse to let her start collecting clothes for it. One build-a-bear that requires clothes is enough.

The ball sounds like something she and her friends would have fun with though. Would it be strong enough last to roll around outside in the grass and on the sidewalk/driveway?

I have to second the thing about the hair. My DD put it on my DM head yesterday and turned it on. Guess What? My mother starts screaming as her hair is wound around the wheels. I thought I was going to have to cut the darn thing out of her hair.

But it gave me the laugh I needed for the day!

I'd wait to see if she's still playing with it in a month. My DD2 got one before Easter and I was all set to buy accessories from the Easter Bunny, but she quit playing with it shortly after she received it and now I don't where the thing is.

Well from seeing my cousin, the cars are not the best to buy.This is only from my cousin, but he rarely looks at the thing the Hamster is all he whanted, or cared about haveing,I would not buy it!

Thanks all-especially the reminders about the hair. I see that that darn hamster has hair wound up in the wheels already.


If she is still playing with it around her b-day, I may get another hamster or the ball, then maybe I won't have all these wheel tracks in my carpet.
