Advice on when to go

BFF is taking her adult niece for the first time
She needs to go on winter break from college.

So which would be a better choice........sometime after 12-14 but before Christmas, right after Christmas or the first week of Jan?? She has to be back at school 1-7.

I have been to DL plenty of times (in fact going early Dec) but not during those times, so I wasn't much help to her on deciding.
I just know one of you can offer advice.

As soon as break starts. The closer to Christmas, the busier it'll get. The busiest time is Xmas to new years.

First 2 weeks of December is the "low" season, cheaper rates and decorated for Christmas! somehow they make DLR even more magical!

When we travel in December we travel first 2 weeks and crowds can be a little lighter

She doesn't get out of school until 12-14, so the first 2 weeks are not an option.

So better to get there right away when she gets out or go after 1-1?
How long are the Christmas decorations up?

With Christmas/NYD being on a Tue this year it is possible that the Sunday after NYD will be the start of the turnover. But that week will be crazy. My best guess is that the week of 12/16-22 will be lighter than the other weeks but will get busier as the week progresses.
