Advice on what to do

So due to circumstances out of my control, my February trip with loved ones has turned into a solo trip for me. I am pretty nervous (and disappointed) about it but trying to look at it as a fantastic opportunity to have a relaxing time and do what I want.

I am staying 7 nights at AoA and have a 4 day non-hopper pass. I have already made my FP+ for my park days and plan to have some down time at the resort. I am trying to decide what to do on one of my non-park days.

Options:

Backstage Magic Tour-7 Hour tour of all 4 parks w/lunch included. I did Keys to the Kingdom a few years ago and thought it was great. I also think I would feel less weird about doing this on my own.

Universal Studios-This is what was planned when my brother and sisters in law were going and I was really excited about it. We went to IoA in 2012 and I loved the Harry Potter stuff and was so looking forward to seeing the new additions. I am just wondering if I will not have as much fun being by myself. (Weird as it is, this is not a worry for me at the Disney Parks...not sure why:confused3)

Both options are pretty close in price, so that doesn't really come into play when I think of pros and cons for each.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Also if anyone has ideas of other things to do on a non-park day, I am fully open to suggestions.

Thanks,

Kristi

I went on my first Solo trip in September, and spent a day at Universal specifically for the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Honestly, if you liked Hogsmeade in Islands of Adventure in 2012, then you really should treat yourself and go check out Diagon Alley in Universal Studios. I thought it was the superior of the two areas, so totally immersive and outstandingly well-done.

Best of all... I didn't feel weird or uncomfortable at all being there solo! Everybody was super nice, TMs and guests alike. I had a great time, and hopefully so will you!

Thanks for sharing your experience. I do really want to see what they have done at US. It seems like it would be so cool. Glad to hear you had a great time.

It depends on what you are into:
sports: golf, mini-golf, fishing, RPDE, marathon, bowling, ESPN Club, WWS/ESPN Zone, etc
shopping: DTD, area outlet malls, large scale malls
drinking: Jellyrolls, Raglan Road, monorail tour of resorts, walking tour of resorts in the Boardwalk area
movies: DTD 24 screen theater some with meals served by waiters
night clubbing: Jellyrolls, Atlantic Dance, Raglan Road, Citywalk
resort tours: monorail tour of resorts, Boardwalk around the lake tour of resorts, AKL/AKV
offsite: Gaylord Palms Resort, Citywalk, swamp tour

I was nervous-but-excited before my first solo trip and ended up loving it. If you enjoy doing things on your own, I think you'll really appreciate the freedom.

If you did go to US/IOA, how would you get there and back? If you're comfortable with that, I'd go there. (I'd like to see the HP stuff someday, but am still intimidated by the idea of going outside the Magical Disney Bubble alone.)
