Hi all,

My son and I are going to an outdoor Holiday event at a local outdoor history museum. It's all outdoors with a few exhibits indoors. There are some streetlights and some lighting coming from the houses. The lighting will overall be rather low.

I am planning to bring my cheap tripod and my remote for the fireworks, and possibly my 18-55mm and my 55-200 lenses. Is there any other equipment I should bring, and if so, what would you suggest?

TIA for any help advice you can give me!

Well allrighty then. I guess I'll just have to trust that I have all of the bases covered for this nighttime shoot.

Do you have any other lenses?

The 18-55 and the 55-200 will not perform very well in low light unless you use a tripod for every shot, or boost your ISO up at high as it can go if you are going to hand hold (which I doubt will really help much at all unless you are in a place where there is a decent amount of light). I went to an outdoor Christmas event recently with my 50mm f/1.8, hand held every shot and had to boost the ISO on that to 1600 for a lot of shots to come out decent, and even then they were pretty noisey.

Unless you have an external flash, I would say to bring your tripod and prepare to use it A LOT to avoid any motion blur since the shutter will have to be open longer than usual.

Good luck and definitely post some shots when you get back!
