I’m not sure if anyone has run into this situation before, but my experience is there is nothing new under the sun so here goes. My oldest DD is graduating high school this year and she and three of her friends are going to Disney World for their senior trip. DH, youngest DD, DD,s friend, and I are going at the same time but staying at All Star Music while oldest DD and her friends are staying at All Star Movies. After six days oldest DD’s friends are heading home and she is going to join us for the last four days of our trip. My question is how to handle the switch over and park tickets. We are staying in a family suite so there is plenty of room for her to join us. Will we have to purchase four more days of park tickets on a separate reservation or can she add those to her existing reservation? I know tickets to the parks get cheaper the more days you purchase so is there any way to avoid having to start over on day seven for her and have to pay full price tickets for her last four days even though she’s been at the resort and had park tickets for the six days prior?

Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer.

Have her go to the ticket booths before the end of her last day and add the extra days (up to 10 total) to her ticket. They will charge her the difference between what she paid for her 6 day and the *current* cost of the 10 day ticket.

Did you book packages with room and tickets? Or did you book room-only and purchase separate tickets?

For oldest DD and her friends, do they want to book a package? Or are they ok with booking the room and tickets separate and then paying out of pocket for meals? If they are OK with doing things separate, here is what I would do: have oldest DD and her friends book a room-only reservation. Then the friends can buy whatever length of ticket they want and oldest DD can buy a 10 day pass. On the day that oldest DD is going to move to your room, go to the front desk and have them add her to your room.

Something to ponder: If oldest DD's friends want the dining plan, you could suggest to them that they buy Disney Gift Cards ahead of time in the same amount that they would've used for the dining plan. Then they could use the gift cards to pay for all of their meals instead of getting the dining plan. They might be surprised with how much they have left (and could then use that for souvenirs). :) Also, there are ways to get discounts on Disney Gift Cards, so that could save even more.

Have a great trip!!

Will this work if she booked a package? I should have told you all that our vacations were done as packages.

I love this idea! Unfortunatly she and her friends have booked packages and they have paid it all off.

Packages with room, tickets, and dining plan.

You can add days to the tickets at Guest Services. It will work with package tickets as well. They’ll see what was paid in the package and charge the difference.

Since she and her friends booked a package, she won't be able to add the extra days to her ticket until she arrives. That means you won't be able to initially include her in your FP+ for those last 4 days, but hopefully you/she can find something that overlaps once she does upgrade her ticket.

Enjoy your vacation!
