DF and I are planning to stay 13-14 days for our honeymoon in August. We'd like to stay at a moderate then at a deluxe suite.

If we book one package with 10 days moderate resort room+dining+tickets, followed by room only at a deluxe for 3-4 days, would we still be able to use the park tickets and dining plan after the first 10 days? (assuming, for example, that we do not redeem all the meals from the plan during the first 10 days and go to the parks 8 days out of 10)

Thanks a million!:goodvibes

Unused dining plan credits expire at midnight on the day you check out of that resort so they will only be available until the end of day 11.

I believe you have two weeks from first use to use the days from your ticket. You should be able to have the ticket transferred to your new room key.

Check out my CSR website below for pics and info. CSR is a great mod with terrific transportation, awesome main pool and great food.

We're going to be at the Wilderness Lodge for 5 nights, then will switch to the Dolphin for 3. We can't use the dining plan while at the Dolphin, so we are planning on getting any unused snack or counter-service credits to get our food "to go" to take to eat that first day at the Dolphin.

Yes, you will be able to have the tickets transferred from the 1st to the 2nd resort(as long as it is w/in 14 days from first use). We did that during our last split stay without any hassle.

Unfortunately, as previously stated, you will need to use all DDP credits by midnight of the day you check out from resort #1.

Have a fun time planning, and an even better time honeymooning at WDW!!:goodvibes

Split stays are much easier if you get rid of the DDP for your 2nd reservation. And, really, after 10 days of dining plan, chances are you'll be sick of eating.

However if the DDP is important to you, you can make a 2nd package reservation with 1-day ticket in order to be able to buy the DDP.
As long as you don't use it, the ticket will never expire, so you can use it on a future trip.

Hope this helps :)

Marina,

That's a great idea about not using the 1 day. We have a split stay (4 nights Poly, 4 nights AKL) with DDDP on each and I have 7 MYW PH & 1 MYW and was going to use the 1, but if I do 8 & 1, I can keep the 1 day unused. I think an 8 day is anly a couple of $ more than a 7 day-I'm going to check right now!

Thanks and definitely do that if you can. The difference if I remember well is something like $2!!

Thanks guys!!

I think we'll just go without the DDP for the last few days at WL. Concierge service should be good for snacks and breakfast anyways.

Omg I'm so excited about this trip, we've done more honeymoon planning than wedding planning!!

Just saw this thread...Do most of you think a split stay is a good idea?????

that is my ? too! i am thinking it best to book my first 2-4 nights with a 6 day park hopper pass, if it will transfer to my 2 nd hotle, bc it is so much cheaper then buying 2 3 day passes! agree????
will the hotel move you and your bags to another wdw hotel? is it easy? i am trying to decide if this is better, or easier to just stay at ss for 5 nights? advice???
thanks, denise

This will be our first split stay. We got the 40% off code so we're able to do the Poly for our first time! We're doing 4 nights Poly where we'll hit the MK and Epcot hard and then 4 nights at AKL where we'll do AK & HS and relax a little. Disney will move your luggage, but you have to get to the other resort either using buses or a cab. I agree with Marina that the dining plan makes split stays harder as you have to have park tix on both of your hotel ressies in order to get the meal plan, which adds to the cost of the park tix. If you don't have the dining plan, or only have the dining plan on your first ressie, you don't need park tix attached to your second hotel stay, just enough days on your first ressie to cover your entire days at the parks. Confusing, I know. IMHO, it's worth it to split stays for convenience or to experience different resorts, but only if you stay at least 3 days at each. I think packing up an moving for a 1 or 2 night stay is too much work!

I agree with Turtle girl, splitting your stay at multiple resorts is only worth it if you are staying at least 3 nights or more at each resort. for us, it's the perfect way to splurge for a few nights without breaking the bank. We probably won't get another ticket just to get the dining plan, we will already have a 10 day park hopper from our first stay at POR and concierge covers breakfast and snacks.

To those that have done split stays before, did your travel insurance cover all your packages? In other words, would you have to get two policies to cover the duration of two packages? Also, are the flights covered even if they aren't arranged through a Disney operated travel company?

I probably will get the travel insurance offered by Disney when I book, but has anyone gone with better alternatives?

Thanks!!

Great question...I'd like the answer to this too!
