Because of our flight schedules, we will be entitled to 5 dining credits (because we are staying 5 nights), however, we basically have four days at the World. That being said, I would like to spend on a two credit meal. I am anxious for any thoughts.

Here are the basics:
This trip is myself and my DS (age 12). He is a really shall I say, pretty adventurous for a 12 year old when it comes to trying different things. Not a picky eater. We have never done HDD, however, it is probably too late to try to get a PS for there.

Would HDD be your first choice or should I try a restaurant? I would appreciate your suggestions.

:woohoo: P.S. I'm doing the happy dance because my Magical Express tags and such came in today's mail. It's been almost two and a half years since we were last there and I can't wait! :yay:

With a more adventurous eater, I'd probably look to one of the signature restaurants rather than a dinner show. Not that HDDR doesn't look fun, but the menu is pretty uninspired IMO, and personally I'd much rather use the two credits for lobster at Narcoosees or sushi at California Grill or buffalo steak at Artist Point.

California Grill is a great place to have a special meal that is kid friendly. Grown up enough for a 12 YO young man but not stuffy. The view is stunning and if you are there during the fireworks show even better. There is a lot on the menu to choose from.

If your ME tags have arrived you must be going in the next few weeks. Do you have ADR's for your other TS meals. You are going at a busy time and you may find that your first choices are not availabale for TS meals, not just the HDD. It would be a shame since you are on the DDP and have pre paid for those meals to not be able to get ADR's. CALL ASAP if you haven't made plans yet.
I would enjoy Jike at the AKL as my 2 TS meal.
It is a beautiful restuarant with delicious food and wonderful servers. Go a little early and enjoy the lodge and the savannahs for the animals. I think your 12 yo would love it.
Have Fun

Just a thought. You could do two sit-down meals in the same day. You don't need to use s 2 credit meal to use up your credits. You can use them in any order you want. We are no fans of the 2 credit meals because we feel that we can experience very good different places just using one.

With that said.... we would spend two credits on the Hoop Dee Doo. Can't get a table there.... Then we would go to the Yachtsmen Steakhouse at the Beach and Yacht Club. If you are going to Epcot, you can walk (five minutes) or boat to the Beach and Yacht. One of the best meals we ever had was there. We paid cash. Well worth the price. They take 2 credits.

I would also be using mine for a 2TS meal rather than HDD. We pay OOP and always feel that 1. Ca Grill, 2. JIKO 3. Yachtsman are well worth the money.

Thanks so much everyone. Actually, to answer Hopefully, we aren't going until January 3 so I hope to miss most of the holiday crowds. We are staying at BWI and since we have no car, the Yachtsman would be the easiest to get to. California Grill would be do-able with the monorail from EPCOT. I am not a huge fan of the bus system, just buses in general make me a little motion sick sometimes. Not what you want when you are going to eat.

Thanks again.
