Advice on seating categories for Hoop De Doo?

I will be making reservations at the 180-day mark in early Feb for an August family trip, and we want to do HDDR on our last night. Our group will be 10 people + 1 infant and I don't know which seating category to reserve. The difference between the tiers can add up to alot x 10 adults, but sometimes I think that once you're spending a certain amount you might as well go for the best....? We won't be able to get this family group together again for awhile, so I want to make the most memorable event I can manage.

Is the top price for Category 1 seating worth it? Or if I call right at the 180-day mark and request center balcony would Category 2 be OK? Or is it true that "there's not a bad seat in the house" and Category 3 would be just as memorable? Any advice you can offer would be much appreciated....

1) Many people are satisfied with Cat-2 or Cat-3.
. . . they say you aren't THAT far away from the stage with Cat-2
. . . they say that you don't bend the neck that badly from Cat-3
2) We will not do HDDR without Cat-1.
. . . Cat-2 has 7-floor and 8-balcony tables (all in last row of the room)
. . . Cat-3 has 16 balcony tables (8 on each side)
3) Of course, if the seats are not that bad, why are they cheaper?

NOTE: Once again, Cat-1 is our personal choice, and we do not sit elsewhere. It is not to say you won't enjoy Cat-2 or Cat-3. But, you cannot get Cat-1 tables if you use DDP coupons.

Thanks Rusty Scupper - that's just the kind of information I was hoping for - thank you!

We sat in Cat. 3 last April and had great seats. You could see everything and a few members of the cast came up to the balcony a few times during the show. Pioneer hall isn't that large so all seats are good seats I think.

last Oct we sat in Cat #2( used DDP ) our seats were ' ok '. the people next / behind us complained the ENTIRE time and ended up putting their seats directly in the paths of the staff. We did not complain, I knew what I was booking when I booked it. I feel we still got 100% out of the show but if the $ is not a problem then I would go for Cat # 1

I decided about 3 months before our trip to book Hoop De Doo, so there weren't any category 1 seating available. We were seated upstairs and the seats were great! We had a great view! They did come upstairs a few times, and even asked my mom where we were from (and included Louisiana in their song)!

I'm definitely planning to do HDD again - and I'll book upstairs again! Our view was great - and we enjoyed the food!

Have a great trip!!

WE did Category 1!!!!!

I LOVED IT!!

Right in the middle & they even dances around our table, but we had 8 & it was tight...you have 10/11!!!

I would see what they offer when you call but it was incredible to be the center table!!!

We sat in Category One. We had a little table to the left side of the stage.... After the show started we wished we were in Category 3 because we hated the HDDR and left in the middle of the show..would of been easier to leave being way in the back! ;)

It seemed for the brief time we were there that the actors in the show go around to all the areas where people of sitting regardless of wheter they are in Category I, II or III so if $ is an issue I would say it doesnt matter.

If you are staying at a disney resort make sure you pick up your tickets at teh concierge desk before you go to HDDR. There was a huge line to pick up tickets....another tip I was told to get there at least 45 minutes before the show...THIS IS NOT NECESSARY (we had the middle time show I think the 7:00) We got there 45 minutes and there was a line yes BUT they do not let anyone into the theater until the first show gets out...get there 5 minutes before and you will be fine no need to waste your time waiting there when you can be at a park or somewhere else.

We love the HDDR and think it is a wonder family show. We've sat in Cat I and Cat II. While the3 Cat II seating was good we won't go again without Cat I tickets. I like sitting close at shows and that's what Cat I seating is - close. For me its worth the extra per ticket

Any advice here - I have CAT 1 seats booked for a party of 6. But getting nervous as it seems some of the cat 1 seats are literally touching the stage, and I would hate to be that close. A few rows back would be fine.

So I am considering downgrading to Cat 2 in order basically avoid being row 1. However , if I knew that those very front rows are only for smaller parties (eg 4 people) then I would be a little more reasuured that as we are a party of six, we won't get them? Anyone know the answer to this.

Where is the first row or table in CAT 1 that would be for a party of 6.? Or is it likely that as a group of 6 in CAT 1 we could end up being on a table that butts up against the stage

Once I put up the money to dine, I want the best experience and for us, Cat. 1 is our choice. We've done the HDDR over 10 times and all number 1's, like being right down in front and part of the action, worth every penny to us.

We sat in cat 2 the last 2 trips, and I sat in cat 3 when I was a kid. I enjoyed the show every time.

The cat 3 seat was probably the worst view, but even in the worst view I still saw everything and loved it.

The cat 2 seatings were both on the floor and right behind cat 1 people. I felt bad for those people that paid extra money and we were 1 ft. behind them. Even the cat 2 on the floor in the back of the room were great seats and we could see everything. The performers went by our tables and the kids loved talking to them.

Have fun wherever you sit!:goodvibes
