I've heard some not so good things regarding the bus service at the Poly and even experienced it to a small extent last year when we were resort touring. On the days when we want to go to MGM or AKL are we going to be better off taking a bus from the TTC? Also I'm sooo confused about the monorail  Am I right in thinking that there is a MK monorail, a resort monorail, and an Epcot monorail? If I am can someone please help me figure out when and which one I'll need to use? Also what time do the buses and monorails start running in the morning?

Thanks

Yes, there are 3 monorail loops. The first is the MK express that just runs from the TTC to the MK. You won't need that one when you're at the Polynesian. The second is the resort monorail which runs from the MK to CR to TTC to Plynesian to GF and back to the MK. You can use that to the MK or to resort hop. Don't forget the little launches that make a circuit from the MK to GF to Polynesian and back to the MK. They're lots of fun, too.

The third monorail loop is from the TTC to Epcot and back. Be sure to make the short walk from the Polynesian to the TTC to take that one. You could ride all the way around on the resort monorail and transfer but it's lots daster to just walk. Returning from Epcot we always just walk back from the TTC but if you're in one of the western buildings and are tired it would be easy to transfer from the Epcot monorail to the resort monorail which will drop you off on the second floor of the GCH.

One other tip if you're in an eastern building is to consider the ferry too for trips back from MK. It's very crowded in the am going over but if you return to the resort midday as we always do, you'll almost have the ferry to yourself and it drops you off very close to the Polynesian.

We don't use the buses much but in my limited experience it is faster to go to the TTC.

We really didn't have any issues with the bus system last August. We used it for Typhoon Lagoon, MGM, and AK. We did seem to wait a longish time for the bus to MGM but it wasn't tooo bad. On the whole, it was fine. We loved the ferry boat from the Polynesian to MK. The walk over to the TTC was an easy one. We never used the TTC for anything other than the monorail to Epcot and to catch the Lynx bus to SeaWorld. Oops, not correct. We did use it to get a bus to Fort Wilderness for the trail ride. And to WL for dinner. Then we took the boat from WL to CR and the monorail from there back to the Polynesian. It was all quite convenient.

A few words of caution about going to the TTC for buses...

-The buses run on fixed routes. If they fill up, and leave people behind, they have to wait for the next scheduled bus, in 15 mins. At the Polynesian, if a bus fills up, another one is dispatched.

-The buses are just as crowded.

-There are *NO* buses to Downtown Disney, Typhoon Lagoon, or Blizzard Beach from the TTC. These buses can only be found at a Disney Resort.

Thanks so much for the replies that's what I needed to know. One more question - does the Poly share buses with another resort? And in what order do the buses pick up there?

Yes, they do share. First stop is Contemporary, then Polynesian, then GF. When you are coming back from the parks, it is the same thing. CR, Polynesian, GF. I always felt bad for the folks at GF.

During morning MOD operations, the Studios and AK buses will typically share with the Contemporary only. After 11am, Studios will add the GF, however, AK will remain Contemporary/Polynesian ONLY.

It should be noted that our operations are highly dynamic, and routing can change at any moment. There are MANY times when buses will go directly to the Polynesian.
