hi all

I'm new to this forum since I've never been to Universal. I have a ton of questions but will start with some basics.

I will be going president's week in 2005--are crowds really bad then?

my kids are 4 and 5 yrs old. my 4 yo son would love to go the super hero's park but they are only 40in tall. would it be worthwhile for us to go the this park?

Since this is our first time, i thought we could try either one park or two parks in one day. is this feasible? i know i won't see everything, it's more of a "get to know the park" type deal.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Will you be staying on site? If so, then having FOTL will make seening both parks in one day so much more feasible and enjoyable.

Although most of the rides at IOA are "thrill" type rides, requiring one to be atleast 42 inches or taller, there are still some great things for the smaller ones to do. There's Toon Lagoon with the interactive water area, and Seuss Landing with plenty for the little ones to enjoy. There are also some things they would enjoy in the Jurassic Park area...discovery center, Pteranodon Flyers, and Camp Jurassic.

Btw...40 inches is tall enough to get them on Spiderman in Super Hero Island. They might also enjoy the Lost Continent. There are two shows and The flying Unicorn, a Kiddie roller coaster. You will also find the Mystic Fountain here...it talks, tells jokes, and may get you wet.

The "super hero's park" is in Islands of Adventure and yes it is worth it to take a 4 year old boy to this park. We did in early March. In Marvel Super Hero Island he can do Spiderman and Storm Force and he can meet superheroes who hang out and he can shop in a terrific Spiderman store and watch the Hulk coaster and soak up the great atmo. And in the other Islands there is MUCH for him to do.

We are not experts having only been once, but I would second the idea of staying in a Universal hotel, which we did, for park access and ride access. Going to two parks in one day is doable because everything is so close together -- you walk from one to the other in five minutes (very different from WDW). We did IOA one day, then US the next, then hit the highlights of both for about 3 hours our last day.

But we were with our 4 and 2 year old and did NO thrill rides. I have to add that we had a fantastic time at Universal and can't wait to go back in March 05. Have fun!

Thanks for your advice. We stay in a vacation home so we won't be onsite. I think since my daughter gets all the "princess" stuff at disney, maybe it's my son's turn to really enjoy the "super heros".

I think we'll give IOA a try to see how we like it and then plan a Universal trip for next year!
