Advice on expiring points

I have 12 points that expire at the end of Jan. 2023 that I will not be using. I considered renting them out through an agency, but the points are so few and the calendar fairly full in the upcoming months. If they were your points (and you couldn’t take another vacation yourself!) would you try to rent them out possibly using additional points, or just let them go?

These are banked points from 2021? (I assume they are, otherwise you would bank them to next year)

That's a lot for me to say I would just let it go. A night in a studio in many places, two at Hilton Head in January. I might consider gifting a reservation to someone if you don't want the hassle of renting.

I'd use them. 12 points will get you a studio at OKW some night. Borrow enough points for a 2nd night and you've got a quick vacation.

Yes, banked from 21. Thank you for your advice!

You could transfer them to another member who might make use of them. Do it as a kind gesture, or a 'pay-it-forward' move, or charge them some nominal fee. It's potentially less hassle than renting them directly or through an agency since they'd be out of your hands, your control, but also your responsibility.

Unfortunately, MS will not transfer banked points to another member. They have to be current year points.

That's good to know! I had considered the option not knowing that restriction, but figured it wasn't worth wasting the once per year transfer for someone on such a small number of points. It was a good thought, SteveAZee!
