Advice on EP and Fan!

Hello all! I've lurked for ages and learned tons of stuff(even as a former CM), but now I am in need of some advice. My family and I are planning a quick two day trip August 22nd and 23rd. We want to see EP, Fireworks from the Hub and the Fan! buffet--riverside at 10:30. So I was thinking the first night we watch the fireworks---2nd day watch EP then head over for Fan!(catching the train if it's there). Has anyone tried EP and Fan! on the same night? If so, what problems did you run into? Also, is there a good spot to catch EP so I can beat the rush out of DCA? Or I should I try a completely different approach? Thanks for reading----any hints are appreciated!

It should be to hard to see the ELP and the late showing of F! on the same night. The biggest problem you will have, is getting up mainstreet as all the people are trying to exit after the fireworks and 1st showing of F!. I would take the train. Even if you have to wait a couple mintues for it. If you don't want to wait, then cut thru the stores, to get up main steet rather then walking up street/ sidewalk. You'll have over an hour from the end of ELP until the late show of F!.

You might want to send the fastest person in your party to check in at the F! seating. They seat in the order you check in. So, you'll get better seats if one of you is able to get there quick. I find its much easier for one person to duck and dodge thru the crowds, then trying to keep a whole family together.
