We have been to WDW many, many times. However, we will be taking our first trip to DL this summer :woohoo:! We plan on staying about 4 nights, and will need at least a 1BDR suite. We need to travel sometime after June 25th, and before Aug 30th. I have a few questions...

1. Does anyone have recomindations for a hotel? We want to stay within walking distance to DL, in a suite, with a decent price.

2. What about food? We plan on eating at the Blue Bayou, but other than that we have no plans. We want to do atleast one character meal, and the rest will probably be CS. Any recomindations or must haves?

3. Is the whole summer equally croweded, or are there better times to go than others?

4. What is the weather like in the summer?

5. Anything else we must know? :goodvibes

Thanks so much! :worship:

Lots of hotel advice in Mary Jo's super sticky - * DLR Info/Links - Maps, Hotels, DISer Reviews, Hydroguy's tips, NEWBIE INFO here!

Popular good neighbor choices are HoJos and Candy Cane Inn (CCI). We spend very little time at our hotel when at DLR and are happy with the Best Western Park Place Inn (BWPPI).

2. What about food? We plan on eating at the Blue Bayou, but other than that we have no plans. We want to do atleast one character meal, and the rest will probably be CS. Any recomindations or must haves?
Storytellers at the GCH is popular. They have characters meals too. Check MJ's above link for more info on dining.

We always make time of the Rain Forest Cafe in DTD. We tend to place less emphasis on dining at DLR than at WDW.

3. Is the whole summer equally croweded, or are there better times to go than others?
The whole summer is not equally crowded. Go between July 3 and Aug 21 to avoid savvy and dedicated AP holders.

See "Understanding AP Blockouts and Impact on Crowds" http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2365983

Also the Angels play a couple miles away from DLR. From MousePlanet's recent update http://www.mouseplanet.com/9187/Disneyland_Resort_Update

2010 Major League Baseball All-Star Game – Tuesday, July 13. Angel Stadium plays host to the 2010 All-Star Game. The Anaheim Convention Center also hosts the Major League Baseball All-Star FanFest July 9-13. Both events should bring added crowds to the Disneyland Resort during what might already be a busy week as Disneyland marks its 55th Anniversary.

4. What is the weather like in the summer?
Much more enjoyable than Orlando, that's for sure. See "Comparison of Weather For WDW and DLR" www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1711098

But DLR's different layout and proximity makes it easier to handle summer crowds and heat:

5. Anything else we must know? :goodvibes
Probably. :) See this thread from that HydroGuy dude - it is now up to about 30,000 views - he must be rich by now ;):

Another reason to stay at GCH:worship:

I'd probably stay at HoJo's if you need a decent priced suite. Bengal BBQ has delicious skewers and is counter service. It's close to the Indiana Jones ride in adventureland.
