Advice on DL please

We eant to take the kids to Disneyland next year, possibly. It would have to be in the Summer. Is there a better time?? I know not to go around July 4th. What DVC hotels do you rec'd?? Thanks!!!

At DL there is only one DVC hotel, the Villas at Grand California. There are 48 villas, 23 dedicated 2 BRS, 23 lock off 2 BRS and 2 GVs. Sometimes it's hard to book a room at VGC unless you book at the 11 month mark.

You might want to check the Villas at Grand California Lovers thread under mousecellaneous for advice on what summer dates are not so busy. I believe schools let out towards the middle to the end of June in southern California so if you could book a reservation in early June a villa might be available and the crowds might be lower.

We went to DL last summer. We stayed at the Disneyland Hotel on points and had a great time. It was also over July 4th. The parks weren't that busy at all and the the lines were no where near as long as we expected. July 4th fireworks were really great. From the fireworks we went to World of Color. It was a really good 4th!!

You need to look at when the passholders are blocked out, July 4th week won't be as crowded as later August or early June when they are not blocked out, they have 1 million passholders.

They have 4 levels of passholders, it will show you when they are blocked out on the DL website.

We own at Grand Cal and it is fantastic there and the only DVC.

We went to DL twice a few years ago - once while we went to San Diego so my husband could run the Rock n Roll marathon there and the next for him to run at the first DL Half Marathon. I LOVE DISNEYLAND. It is so neat - compact, you can walk everywhere. We stayed in the GC hotel (long before there were even dreams of VGC) and also at Paradise Pier. Both were very nice. GC had a back entrance into California Adventure.

Check out the Disneyland Board to find out more about DL. When you find an attraction with the same name as one in WDW, they are not different. Most of the time the one in DL is better.
