Advice on discount...

You guys here have steered me right so far so I'm going to ask you for your opinion.

Our trip is being planned by 'experienced Disney' people (I think this is their 4th trip this year) and since we've never been, things are left to them to arrange. (Which is why we have a 30 min. layover in Atlanta with five kids but that's another post. )

So here's my question. Our ressie was booked by them, because they have AP rates which haven't come out yet. We're told that when the rates come out, if they are not that great, we can switch over to AAA. After reading some of these posts about a limited number of discounts available, I am concerned that won't be possible.

So do I leave it to the experts and not worry about it (which is hard to do because their budget and ours are WAY different as there's only two of them and $30 a night to them is a major dent in the budget for us!) or do I call and double check our ressie?

I've already been accused of second guessing them and trying to ruin the trip for everybody so I'm not asking this to anybody but you guys. Just don't tell on me... :rolleyes1

Honestly, if you booked a room only, I would have booked you the AAA rated room first, then when you get your AP and assuming their best rate beats your AAA rate, switch from there- so at least you know you won't be paying rack rate for your room.

Agree, I use to book AAA when AP rates we not yet out.
Then, switch to AP rates.
Usually AAA rates come out long before AP rates too.
The AP should be better than AAA. I have never seen where they are not.

When is your trip?

October...

So do I call and make sure it's AAA or leave it be and hope that they know what they're talking about? Just have a feeling if I call, I'll get some ditz who won't understand what I'm referring to and I'll screw something up...

I would call and make sure you have at least a AAA discount. If it is not, see if AAA is available (as long as you are a member). I am assuming your res was not made through a Travel Agent. Otherwise they will have to handle it.
If a AAA rate is not applied or available, ask what discount you may be available for. You have to be proactive. Chances are a CRO/WDTC CM cannot offer you something without you asking first.
