was wondering if you all could give me some advice on which character breakfast meals you prefer. we will be heading down in may for our very first trip to wdw. received a code today that will be saving me 40% off our package so i am definately interested in making a reservation or two for my family to have a sit down breakfast. was interested in either chef mickeys or crystal palace. any other options would be great as well. :thumbsup2

Crystal Palace is our favorite--for the puffed french toast and potato casserole. Plus, I love Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore and Piglet. We've done Chef Mickey's numerous times as well (we just find that was a lot louder and more crowded, but the character interaction is very good).

If you do Crystal Palace, try to get an 8:00 a.m. ADR so that you can get pictures of the castle and your family with hardly anyone else on Main Street. It is a perfect opportunity for a picture without a lot of people.

Cape May Cafe at the Beach Club also has a very good character meal with Minnie, Goofy and Donald Duck.

While we love both breakfasts, the food and atmosphere are superior at CP - IMHO. We really love it there - the characters are great, the food has more variety (including make your own omelets), and I love the building....can't beats it's location either!:goodvibes

Wow, so many choices for great breakfast meals with characters. A few things to think about to help you decide...
- which characters do your kids like the better? That might push you to one meal over another
- might want to try an early bfast ADR inside the before the park opens at 9am (try CP before MK, Tusker House before AK, H&V before HS)
- Or time it later for more of a brunch

My boys love character meals and we are early risers, so we love character breakfasts. Most are buffet style, except Ohana is sit down family style.

I thought the food was better at Cape May Cafe and Tusker House. My DS3 loves Little Einsteins so we always do H&V for him. You get the most characters at Chef Mickeys. We save Chef Mickey's for dinner.

For us, it's more about what characters can you see, the meal sorta comes second. If you want to see pictures of the characters at each meal, we went to several in our Oct trip, see my trip report for lots of pictures.

Have a great trip.

if your boys like Animal Kingdom and Donald Duck, that breakfast might be a consideration for you (if you have boys, I would probably not do a princess breakfast but you know that already) :rotfl:

You've already mentioned Crystal Palace and Chef Mickeys, both fun w/ good food. Cape May is nice as well. If you consider a dinner, Garden Grill is nice and low key.

We did Tusker House and O'hana's. I preferred O'hana's. Not that Tusker wasn't good. O'hana was just better

Our favourite character breakfasts were Ohana's (family style not buffet, but all you can eat and very good food), Cape Mays and third would have been Tusker House, we preferred all three of these over our breakfasts at Chef Mickeys and Crystal Palace.

Here is another vote for Ohana's - great atmosphere, good character interation and great food. We actually like the fact that it is not a buffet. It is still all you can eat, but served family style. Not to start anything, but it kind of reduces the "ick" factor for me!;) We like to go to Ohana's for the latest breakfast seating possible on an MK early entry morning. Get to MK by 8:00 AM - do all the rides before it gets too crowded and then hop on the monorail over to Poly around 10:30 or so for a nice relaxing brunch.

Ohana's was my favorite too, but Crystal Palace was a very close second. I went nuts trying to get into Chef Mickey's, and I finally did, but our ADR was at 7, which was waaay too early. It was fine- the best part was seeing all of the characters in one place. The food was pretty bad though, and things were pretty hectic.

Is it easy to get from the contemporary to ohanas???? That sounds like one i'd like to try!

When picking a character breakfast I would choose based on the characters. The food at any of these are good but the one you like best is a personal preference, what some like best another may not like. So we always choose according to the park we are going to be at and the characters who are there! Have a great trip! :goodvibes
