Advice on Campsite Reservations Please

Earlier this week I looked at reserving a Premium site for Nov 1-7, 2017 and it was available. When I went back a few days later everything is available except Premium for that time frame now. Digging deeper it looks as if only Saturday Nov 4th is unavailable for premium site. We are going to be there for the Wine & Dine Half and will be renting a trailer (so moving is not an option).
Advice? Should I book what is available and hope Saturday opens up? I would think Saturday could become available since we are so far out but am I off base? Would I be able to merge all of the reservations together? It is a 42' trailer - would we be okay in a Preferred site? Other ideas?

We have stayed at the Fort many times but always renting so I am not an expert camper by any means. Any and all advice is appreciated! I guess I can put a deposit on the RV while I mess around with the site rental. Thanks everyone!

A 42 footer is about the longest I would do at a Preferred site but it will fit. I would book it and keep looking for a Premium if that is what you want. Worst case, you don't have a lot of room around the camper, best case, you get the site you want. Either way, you're not at work and at the fort!

Lots of locals (within a few hour drive of the Fort) book up weekends from October-May. People fill up the weekends (Friday and Saturday nights) during those times.

My advice would be to take what you can get (Premium or Preferred)-then keep looking for any missing nights (like daily). If you find a missing night make a 1-night reservation and they can be merged (although you still have the usual 180-day ADR and 60-day FastPass issues). But once you get the missing night you CAN get them merged as long as they are the same type of campsite and consecutive nights (I did it a few months ago for my stay this month, January 2017).

Thanks for the input. I think I will reserve what I can for a Premium site (since that is what we really want) and keep checking for the elusive Saturday night to open up. Fingers crossed.

Update: I ended up reserving a prefer site for my desired dates but continued to check every day (sometimes twice a day!) for premium to become available. On Saturday my wish was granted and I was able to book a premium site for the duration of our stay. Just checked today again and it is still available so who knows what was gong on before...

Persistence pays off!
