We will be traveling to FW in June from Arkansas. We would like to stop overnight about halfway. Does anyone know of any good campgrounds on I-75 S in Georgia? It looks like somewhere near Atlanta is halfway for us.

Thanks!

Welcome to the Dis!

We travel along that route, and we usually stop at one of the Flying J truck stops for the night. We stopped at Amy's South Georgia RV Park this last trip and it was fine. It is further south than you may want, though. It was in Tifton--(mm 60). We had planned to stop at the KOA in Forsyth (somewhere between 180 and 185) on the way back this last trip, but the kid was sleeping so we sailed on past and stopped at the Flying J at mm 201 and slept there. I haven't ever stopped at this KOA so I can't really offer a recommendation.

I don't know what your camping vehicle is so I don't know if a truck stop will work for you, but they often work for us.

Have fun planning!! When are you going in June? We'll be home at FW again in late June through the 5th of July!!! I can't wait!!!

Thanks for the info. I was just looking at the Forsyth KOA online this morning and thinking that would be a good place to stop.

We will be traveling with our new Jayco Jay Flight 27' Travel Trailer. We just brought it home on Friday!

We will be at FW from June 6-10. It will be a short trip this time. Hopefully we will be able to stay a couple of weeks next year!

Thanks,

Paula

p.s. Can anyone tell me how to put one of those countdown clocks on my posts?

You can go to www.woodalls.com and search for campgrounds by state if you can't find a convenient KOA. If you can manage, a flying j is free and works great if you can get a spot. We tried this in October but all the spaces were taken and had to go to another truck stop that I did not feel comfortable in. I also saw alot of campers/rv's at the rest areas during the night. Georgia may allow camping at their rest areas. Someone else may have info on that. We don't go through Atlanta anymore (I can't handle the traffice stress!). They have narrowed their lanes and we are new tt campers so I get real nervous. GOOD LUCK!

Thanks for you reply. We have actually decided to go the way we normally travel to Florida (we have just never done it with a travel trailer!) We are going to stop at the Milton, FL KOA. It will be 11 hours of driving the first day and 8 hours the second day. Wish us luck traveling with a wild 2 year old!!!

Paula

Where are you coming from? We travel from the Birmingham (AL) area and travel down HWY 431 through Dothan and I think Marianna?? to I-10. We stayed at a relatively nice KOA before getting to Tallahassee just last month. Got in after dark, showered the next a.m. and left so it was ok for us. Traveled w/ our 9yo, 5yo, and very hardheaded 3 yo! This time we are leaving a little bit earlier in the day and stopping over in Lake City KOA.
