Hi there,

Fine print lol:
We're on the DDP for the first time ever (in fact, the last time we went to WDW the reservations were called Priority Seating lol!) and just have a question. I've looked on the Disney site dining FAQ but can't see what I'm looking for and although I've searched on here I can't see the same exact question)

So, next March (Easter holidays, unfortunately!) we are at the World and trying to plan our ADRs. We are onsite and also have a car. We are hoping to have breakfast at Tusker House at AK. There are two days we could do this, any thoughts on which would be better?

1. Wed 27th March. Park opens (EMH) at 8am. Hopefully we could get an ADR for 8am - + point is that its a nice early start (we have early rising children lol) and we get longer in the park during the slightly cooler morning hours. - point is that park could well be busier as it is an EMH day.

2. Thu 28th March. Park opens at 9am. ADR would (hopefully) be 9am. Not such a nice early start, but park may be a little quieter?

With the EMH option, when does the park mini-opening show happen? At the EMH opening time, or the regular park opening time? And how long does it last? We'd quite like to see that, so how long should we leave for it before we make our ADR?

Sorry if the questions are a little higglety-pigglety, I'm finding it hard to get it straight in my head.

Thank you so much in advance,
Rachel

I love making a late morning breakfast ADR...especially on EMH mornings. I usually grab something very quick, in my room, before leaving for the park. Then, we're good to go until around 10am-ish....sometimes 10:30!!! That way, we are sitting down to eat as the park gets busier. And we don't have to eat lunch this way either.
I never make ADRs for the time the park is opening. I either want to be in there an hour prior to park opening, or late morning.

I'm a make my ADRs before the parks open kind of girl. Why waste valuable park time eating? Especially those first few quiet hours? But then I am an exceedingly early riser, thanks to my job. I slept in today on my day off until 5am.:rotfl2:

Could you see your family making a 7 or 730 am ADR?

Neither are really ideal, since you're spending the first hour or so of open park time eating, instead of utilizing the time to ride when it is less crowded (erm, relatively :p).

If it were only between those two options though, and there were no other AK day, I'd choose option 2, since the park will be without EMH which will lessen crowds a bit.

Alternatively, I'd make a later breakfast ADR here and use that early time to hit up the big rides when the lines are likely the shortest. If you have hoppers, and can get there for the 8am opening, then go for Wednesday. Hop out after the meal to a quieter park for the rest of the afternoon. If you don't have hoppers, go for Thursday, since it'll likely be a bit quieter.

With it being crowded since it is right around Easter, those early hours of touring time will be quite important. Otherwise I'd suggest an 8am on Thursday (which, is also still an option ;)). (As a note, in-park breakfast ADRs usually start around 8am, even if the park doesn't open until 9, these are when the early breakfasts shine)

I'm pretty sure that the only rope drop "show" is at the MK now-a-days. I know DHS and Epcot both discontinued theirs for a more staggered entry, and I'm pretty sure that AK still has the actual rope drop, but no longer any sort of show that goes along with it.
