Hi all,
Planning a trip for me, my sister & her husband, and their two daughters (ages 6 & 9). It will be the kids first time to Walt Disney World & I want it to be really special. My sister & her husband want to go value resort the whole way, but I want to surprise them by splitting our stay with the Beach Club resort.
1st, do you think that the Beach Club Resort is the best deluxe to treat them to. I chose it based on Stormalong Bay & the proximity to Epcot & MGM.
2nd, the Disney website says that most standard rooms sleep 5, but where does the 5th person sleep? Has anyone done this before? Is it comfortable for 5?
3rd, Concierge? Is this worth it? Are the rooms any bigger? Will the kids benefit from this?
3rd, whats the best way to surprise them with the deluxe stay. It would be nice to hold out to the last minute, maybe the night before we have to switch resorts. "I could say, alright, pack up your stuff, we're being upgraded tomorrow!!"
any feedback would be appreciated. thanx so much!!!

Most standard rooms at the Beach Club have a day bed in the room. It's basically a twin sized bed. When I stayed at the Beach Club, my room didn't have one. Our room at the Poly did--when I stayed there with my sister and her family, my nephew slept comfortably on the day bed, and I slept with my niece. We were comfortable with three adults and two pre-teens in the Poly. The rooms at the Beach Club are smaller than the ones at the Poly.

Stormalong Bay is fantastic. You can walk to the back door of Epcot in less than 10 minutes, and MGM in about 20 minutes. There are boats available to both places, but most time I find it quicker to walk due to stops at other resorts, and lengthy loading/unloading.

I have never stayed concierge, but the folks who have seem to really love it.

Concierge will cost about $100 more per night. You have to decide if you'll eat that much food. If you are away from your room alot, it may not be.

BC is wonderful with kids. Walking distance to Epcot and MGM is great. They will love Stormalong Bay. Make sure you request a daybed, since I am not sure that all rooms have them. I slept in a daybed once. As a 5'6" grown-up, I was comfortable.

How many days are you staying before you switched? I like the idea of a surprize. Disney will transfer your luggage for you when you switch resorts. Maybe you could do something like a postcard from Goofy asking the kids to sleep over his house go swimming and have breakfast with him. BC has the Goofy charactor breakfast. Or you could tell your sister & DH on the QT (tell them its all paid for a special surprize from you to the kids ) the night before and take the kids to "look" at SAB and the BC and then ask them "Do you think you'd like to stay here?" Then tell them "OK lets see if they have a room and go to your room and say this one looks about right. Lets stay!" Sounds like a magical trip.

the postcard from Goofy would be very cool for the kids! If I was a kid, that would just thrill me! I vote for that! :earboy2:

This sounds great but would your DSis be upset with you if you did it as a surprise? Maybe she and her DH wouldn't want the kids to get spoiled by a deluxe resort???? You'll be doing 2 rooms at the value right? Will you do 2 rooms at the deluxe? Would 1 room (1 bathroom) work for everyone?

I've stayed at the Yatch Club and really liked it but I'm now a Poly fan. The rooms are huge! The last 2 trips we had me, DH, DD(5), DS(4), DD(2) and another adult friend in one room and it was fine with us. We even had a full size crib on one trip and toddler bed on another. The daybed at the Poly is a twin size bed. I think I've read that the daybed at BC is a bit smaller. We really love the Poly's location-boat or monorail to MK and walk to TTC for direct monorail to Epcot. I love the Poly at night with the view of the castle and the tiki torches. The pool at the Poly is really nice but not SAB but then again I've read that SAB is huge and it can be hard to keep track of your kids. We really love concierge for our crew but since they are so young we do tend to spend a fair amount of time at the resort. For the convenience factor alone for breakfast and snacks it is worth the extra cost for us. We also have the lounge to relax in so that probably helps us not feel too crowded in the room. I've read that the YC concierge lounge isn't always open (they close between offerings) but the Poly lounge is open all day (not 24 hours but like 8am to 10pm) so you can always grab a soda or cookie.

thanx for all the great feedback

twinglemum, I plan on staying at Pop Century for 2 nights, and then Beach Club for 4 nights, with my sister & her husband, and the kids thinking we're staying at the Pop for our entire stay!!!! I also want to rent one of the pontoon boats to go see Illuminations. That sounds like it would make it a memorable night. Any other suggestions on other surprises I could spoil my nieces with?

lovesdumbo has me contemplating the Poly now. It would be nice to see the water-electrical parade at night, and also have the view of the castle. You guys are making it harder for me to choose!!! haha!!!! But I love all the suggestions!!!!
