Hi,

Ok...I really want to add on...just need a few things straight.

I'm thinking I should add on at WL because I like the option of
having all my points available at the 11 month mark...

Questions
1. What is transferring points....I'm assuming I CAN'T transfer
points from say AKL to my WL before the 7 month mark?
If not.....when and why would I transfer?

2. Can I add more people to the add on contract than is on my
original? ie...mom.
Thanks
Kerri

Yes, you could have AKL points transferred into your account. The advantage would be to get the 11 month priority at that resort. Otherwise, a transfer within 7 months of when you would need the points would just be to have the additional points to use. Transferred points may be banked however.

No, the add-on deed must be the same as your master contract. After the closing you could pay to have the deed changed however.

Thanks Doc,
If I understand the transfer answer....
If I add on at AKL....I currently own at WL....I could transfer my AKL points
to my WL points so I can book a vacation at WL with all of my WL points
and my AKl points before the 7mth window....
That would be great....I would get 2 11 month windows....while also
able to pool all my points before 7 month...seems to good to be true?
Is that right?
Thanks
Kerri

No that is not right. The points retain the 11 month booking window of their home resort. If you transfer points from AKV to VWL, you can use the AKV points at the 7th month mark. not the 11th.

You could only perform one transfer in or out per year per master contract, so you could not transfer to yourself unless you owned two different master contracts. The points are supposed to retain their home resort and UY, thus you could not transfer them from resort A to resort B and use those points at 11 months to make a reservation at resort B.

I will probably add on at WL....just so I can have the option
of having all my points together at 11 month mark.
Thanks everyone

edit....

If Disney dosen't have points and I add on through TSS....Can I combine those 2 contracts for 1 ressie at 11 months at WL....that will be home resort for both then.
Thanks

If you purchase an "add-on" contract, you cannot transfer between that contract and your master contract. In fact, you do not need to. You can pool the points when making a reservation -- no need to transfer points from one contract to the other. If the master and add-on are for the same resort, you can pool the points to make a reservation at the 11-month window. If the add-on is purchased at a different resort, you could pool the points to book at the 7-month window.

The only way you can transfer points from one of your contracts to another of your contracts is if they are totally separate contracts under unique membership numbers, the simplest example being that they are separate master contracts. To get a new master contract through Disney you would have to purchase at least 160 points. If you do that, you can also add another name to the deed at the time of purchase. There are downsides to having multiple masters though, in particular that you cannot pool the points to make a reservation. You either need to book whole days from each contract and then link the two reservations or use your one transfer per UY to transfer points from one contract to the other and book the entire reservation from one contract.

You would have to purchase a VWL contract with the same Use Year as the contract you have now, and put exactly the same names on the deed as your current contract. You would tell TSS and Disney and anyone else involved in the process that you want the contract set up as an "add on" contract. If all goes well, that's what you'll end up with. If something goes wrong and it is set up as a separate contract, Disney will not fix it later and you will end up with two master contracts.

In general, they would be a separate contract. You could then transfer from one to the other. You could try to find a resale contract with the same UY and have them incorporate it under your existing contract, but you would have to inform them of this in advance. They would not do it as a matter of course, I believe.

Our second contract was resale at a different resort but with the same UY and same names on the contract. It was treated as an add-on without our requesting it. But it's probably better to let them know you definitely want it done as an add-on if that's the case.
