I am a newbie, and have been reading the forums for advice.

I am trying to plan a trip in mid Jan 05 for myself, DH, and adult son (25), and my parents (mid 70s). My mother has mobility issues and will be using an ecv. I am debating between CR and Poly for accomodations. Which do you think would be more "ecv friendly", and easiest for her to navigate with the scooter? What floors and rooms do you suggest?

I have stayed at the CR on a previous trip a couple of years ago, so have some "familiarity" with the hotel. I am "very interested in 14th floor" at CR. Would she have a problem getting to and from that floor? They have also requested that I ask for connecting rooms. Is this an option on that floor?

I appreciate the assistance, and any other information you would care to share would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance. . .

Either of those resorts should be ECV friendly, big rooms and elevators and monorail accessability. The Poly may have a slight advantage in that it's close to the TTC and you can go there and get right on the Epcot monorail; if you stay at the CR you have to take the monorail to the TTC, go down and then back up that long ramp and then onto the Epcot train. But as long as the other people walking have good mobility (or have an ECV as well as Mom) you should be fine!

If you posted the same question on the disABILITIES board too you will likely get some helpful input there as well!

Happy planning! :)

Have you thought about renting points from a DVC owner for a 2BR unit at one of the DVC properties? This will give you all a lot of space, even inside your room. Just a thought! :D

Only have experience at the Poly...... You could get a first floor room there that would be very easy to get to, and hallways are pretty wide. The GCH has the snack bar on the 1st floor (easy) and 2 elevators to 2nd floor for other restaurants and monorail station. As was mentioned, the Poly is close to TTC which would make it easier to go to Epcot. I'd consider requesting a room between TTC and GCH -which would also put you close to the bus stop for other parks. So it would seem to be a very easy resort for ECV access. Only downside I see is having to go outside to go from room to GCH, etc. if it's raining. Connecting rooms are available there.
Hopefully someone w/ knowledge of the CR will also post to give you a better idea of there...

Good luck!
Beth
