I lost 12 pounds in 2 weeks on the Atkins diet and was having the easiest time...no hunger and the pounds were melting away. Unfortunately, I have an electrical problem with my heart and began having a bad spell of palpitations. They may or may not be related to the Atkins diet but I stopped anyway just in case. They continue to happen even after stopping the diet. In the four days I have been off the diet I have gained back two pounds. I really only want to lose another 30 pounds but I am someone who needs instant gratification and starving all week on Weight Watchers to lose 1 pound is not working for me. Has anyone had luck losing a steady 2 pounds per week on WW? How do you do it? Walking is the only exercise that I feel comfortable with because of this stupid heart condition so it is not like I can hit the gym hard to melt off the pounds...which is really awful because I am only 34 years old and it should be no problem to excercise.

I think the best thing for you to do is to see your doctor. Maybe he could give you some insight as to whether it was your dieting or something else that is triggering the palpitations.
I have been following Weight Watchers for 14 weeks and hit the 30 pound mark today. Some weeks I had better weight losses than other weeks. But overall - an average of about 2 pounds per week. But I never did any kind of exercise before and now I'm doing the Walk Away the Pounds tapes four or five times a week, and I occasionally get on my elliptical trainer or stationery bike. I wish you good luck in finding a diet plan that will work for you. But please see your doctor.

Ouch!! We REALLY want you to be healthy. Whether the diet had an impact on your palpitations or not, I'm glad you're taking a careful approach to your health.

I'm a WW. I started (this time ) at the beginning of February, and have lost 30 pounds, an average of 2 pounds per week. I'm not hungry. I can't recall a single day that I felt deprived or like I didn't have enough food. I have had to change WHAT I eat, but I get plenty of it. I rarely/never have fried food, burgers, chips, potatoes, creamy sauces, not much cheese. I have added lots more vegetables than I used to eat. And lots more water!

We have another WW here (PartyofSix/Tammy) who has lost lots more than that in the same amount of time. I think the biggest difference between Tammy and me is that she is WAY better than I am about getting lots of exercise.

Probably the biggest difference you would see switching from Atkins to WW now would be that you would add a few more carbs, and really reduce the fats you eat. Everybody's body chemistry is a little different, so it's hard to say how that might affect your general health.

I think the most important part of being successful on WW, at least for me, is attending the weekly meetings. I get tons of ideas and encouragement from my friends there and my leader. And WISH is absolutely essential for my mental and physical health. I love my loser friends here!

With all the WW we have here on WISH, I'm sure that you'll get plenty of support and good information on any WW program questions you have.

Good luck to you- we want you to get healthy and feel good!

Oh, sorry to hear about your heart palpitations! Hope you see the dr. soon! :)

I am on WW and I love it. While I don't feel like I am starving, I did feel like I was missing alot of food the first week, but I was determined to lose the weight and I know I was eating way out of control and too much before I started WW.

Some weeks I have a good loss and some weeks I don't. According to fitday.com, my average weekly loss is about 1.5 pounds.

Good luck with your weight loss!!! Having a scheduled cheat meal once a week has helped me stick to the program. Knowing I have a nice meal out to look forward to helps me stick to my plan the rest of the week. I've found that my cheat meal is even too much food now, and can really mess up my tummy for a night or so.
