Advice Needed

I love the Contemporary. BUT, in your situation, I think I go Port Orleans. It's beautiful, and the bar there is great. PLUS, carriage rides for a little romance, you can take the boat ride the Disney Springs, and if you want to visit the other resorts to check them out, taking a bus and walking a bit won't be nearly as big a deal for you as it is for someone with kids.

Port Orleans -- in addition to the many reasons listed here, including the $600 difference, is the boat ride to Disney Springs. It's fun, romantic, lets you stay at the downtown area as late as you like, and have an effortless and pleasant ride home.

As long as "as late as you like" ends before 11:30...

Also regarding the "romance" please remember that there are other people - likely with young children - who will be sharing your boat...

Thank you for all of the advice everyone! In an odd change of events we have decided to go with Wilderness Lodge. I will be booking a bounce back when I check in next Saturday so if it is not available I will be going with POR instead. Thanks again.
A very nice choice, as well! (I am a little biased.) As you are likely aware, there is ongoing construction at WL as they put in another DVC resort that will have cabins along the shore, while the entire south wing of WL will become DVC suites. Construction noise has not been an issue since they only work between roughly 9-5 when most guests are in the parks. We stayed there in Feb and have many acquaintances who have stayed (and are currently staying) at VWL/WL, and the noise was inconsequential. The restaurants are all open; the boats still travel to and from MK/CR/FW; and the ambiance is still special. We'll be there in May, as well, and we're looking forward to being "home" again despite the construction.

Hello - my boyfriend and I are planning a trip in May and for one week. I have been to Disney multiple times and he has not been in over 20 years so I want it to be special. I am having a hard time choosing between the following...

1. First two nights at Pop Century and the last 5 nights at the Contemporary.
2. Full 7 nights at Port Orleans Riverside. This option is $600 cheaper than the first. I have stayed at POR a few times.

Would you spend the extra money to stay Deluxe for a few nights or save the money for other items? I appreciate your input.

I would not spend the extra money to stay at the CR, but I would spend it to stay at the YC/BC. It really depends on how you plan on vacationing. Are you planning on spending the majority of your days in the parks? If yes, than I would say go with POR and save the money.

Thank you for all of the info! I am not too worried about the construction noise. When my boyfriend saw photos of the lodge he was so impressed. We were supposed to go to Alaska this year and that didn't work out so I thought Wilderness Lodge could have that vibe - just a tad warmer!

I stayed at the YC two years and absolutely loved it. Unfortunately, for this trip it is just too much out of the budget. Unless a discount comes out. I am trying to make this trip more relaxing instead of go go go like normal.

We love it at the Lodge and consider it our home away from home. I'm sure you'll both love it there. Just walking in the front doors is an amazing experience in itself. It's fun to hang out in the main lobby and watch people walk in for the first time. :thumbsup2

On a side note, I spent four years in Alaska and loved it there. Stunning and majestic all rolled into one.

I'd do the Pop/CR split stay. POR is nice, but if you want special for someone who hasn't been to WDW in a long time, I think CR is more classic and more special than POR, and worth the price differential.
