Hey folks,

DW and I are planning a trip in December, so our 180 day time is coming up and I need to make a decision about dinner. I've previously decided that we're going to do the crystal palace for a character breakfast, but I want to do one particularly nice dinner.

I initially wanted to go to the California Grill, but the menu seems like it does actually represent things that are generally available in the a california style restaurant out here (not suprisingly, I guess), and I'm worried we'd be dissapointed.

I was thinking of trying Artist's Point at WL, but I'd like others' opinions.

California Grill is good, but Artist Point is much better IMHO. I've found the food there to be stellar. The service at Artist Point is consistently excellent (whereas it is pretty medicore sometimes at California Grill). While California Grill has a nice view, that's really the only aspect of it that is always better.

California Grill would be a great choise for you. The food and service our outstanding. On our last visit I started with one of there great flatbreads and then had the Pork Tenderloin w/ Polenta for dinner and it was outstanding. We ate at Artist Point a couple of years ago and were very dissapointed. The service and food that night were terrible. The Pork Chops I ordered were so tough I had to send them back twice. If you wan't to go someplace really great go to Jiko at the AKL. It is our favorite place to dine at WDW. :)

Is there any view at Artist's Point? I've heard that it's styled after the old national park lodges that are scattered around the west coast. does the theming live up to the lodges?

DW is more a fan of northwest seafood than California seafood, so it looks like we'll try Artist's Point.

I really didn't mean to imply that there wasn't a view from Artist Point. It's on the second floor (the lobby level) of the resort, so the view isn't as breathtaking as the 15th floor view from California Grill, but the WL courtyard is very pretty, and you can even see the bay from some of the tables, I believe.

This page shows a photo of Artist Point. The photo is looking straight at Artist Point, and so you can see in the foreground what you can see from window tables at Artist Point.

We love California Grill but after all of the rave reviews we've read on Artist Point we are definitely going to try it in September and skip Cali Grill this time..........even though their spicy sushi is to die for!

We ate at AP after a long day doing KTTK tour at MK. DW was so tired, it took her almost a year to remember how good AP was. The venison spring rolls and cedar plank salmon were great. I think DW had bison. It was fun trying to find hidden mickeys in the ceiling painting.
AP, CA Grill, FF, and Spoodles are our absolute favorites.

Try California Grill! You will Love it. It is always our first Dinner at WDW! The view of the MK is awesome! A wonderful way to start or end your WDW vacation! :thumbsup2
