OK ~ This is clearly not where my husband and I would choose to stay, but our boys (turning 5 & 7) are 100% NICK-obsessed. So, we're celebrating both their birthdays with Spongebob & Patrick.

I know this is a Disney site, but I haven't had any luck finding a better forum for info...so forgive me if this is off-topic. I need some real basic info:

Rent a car? We've always stayed on-property and used the Magical Express, so I'm clueless when it comes to transportation to/from the airport. We're going in March, arriving on a Tues morning and leaving Friday night. Should we go ahead and rent one? We might also need it for picking up some groceries, although I'm guessing we could have those delivered, maybe? Just H2O and snacks.

We're doing the character breakfast and also their birthday celebration with Spongebob.

Ideas, suggestions, help...LOL

Thanks everyone!!

That's what everyone is here for ... to help each other out. I think there are threads about the hotel out there, just do a search. But I'll try to give you my input.

My kids (DS9 & DD6) are Nick obsessed too. We're planning a stay for the Memorial Day week. We've stayed there once before. Theoretically you could get a taxi or shuttle service from the airport to the hotel and then take the shuttle (which is included in your $25 resort fee) to the parks. But I prefer driving. Some other things. This hotel is really like motel like quality rooms. That being said, we're still going because the kids really don't care about that, they just want Nick. Also plan on lots of down time at the hotel. There is so much to do there. The slides (yes slideS not slide) are awesome. There's like an emcee also that entertains poolside activities. There is also an arcade, several 4d/3d movies, 2 pools, nighttime show. We didn't get enough last time because we were going to the parks all day. So we're doing a resort / Sea World / Disovery Cove & 1 day at MK this time so that we have enough time at the hotel.

Foodwise. The food court is really average (but it has Pizza Hut and Subway and coffee thing). Also the restaurant (average). Also not all the rooms have a kitchen. But all have fridge & microwave. As others have said, utensils are lacking, so make sure you pick up some when you pick up some food. There is a Super Target, Walmart and Publix nearby (as in driving distance). There really is nowhere you can walk too.

Oh yeah one other crazy thing. The rooms have murals of different characters on them. If there is one in particular you want, you might have to pay extra for it (i.e. Spongebob & Dora rooms), so be prepared for that.

Enjoy!

Thank you so much, Virginia!! I'm feeling better about things. Now...if they would just remove the rain from the weather forecast ~ I'd be good. LOL Hopefully, they'll just be those 1x/day FL sprinkles.

Going to rent a car ~ since I just read last night that parking is incl in the resort rate and I think we'll spend just as much in to/from airport transport. So, we might as well have a car.

I really appreciate your response! Enjoy your stay later in the spring. ;-)
