I have started dating a guy who is Jewish, and I am Catholic. My mother said to invite him to church and for Easter dinner, so I did, and he has accepted and will be joining us. Now he is not a practicing Jew, his brothers wife is Christian, and this year the whole family celebrated Hanukah (sp) as well as Christmas.

here is my dilemma, every Easter after church we do Easter baskets (candy/snacks.something of interest to that person/etc.) I do not want him to feel left out, yet I do not want to offend.

What would the proper etiquette be in this situation?

If he has accepted an invitation to church, he doesn't sound like the type of guy who would be offended by an Easter basket. I would include him in the festivities since you have already extended an invitation to him to participate in the Holiest day of the Christian calendar and he accepted.

Easter baskets are not part of the religious aspect of Easter so I don't see a problem, make him a little basket if you want.

He'll love a basket! Go for it.

The Easter Bunny, eggs and baskets aren't about the religious aspect of the season. If he's willing to go to Mass, a basket would be more than appropriate. I would imagine that he would be happy to be included in a family tradition. :goodvibes

I used to babysit kids that were Jewish. I gave them Christmas presents and they game me a Christmas gift. I don't think it would be a big deal.

Especially if the boyfriend likes chocolate;)

Thanks guys! I went to Catholic school my whole life and grew up in a Catholic/Christian town, so I had never faced this before!

He's getting a nice big basket from mom and I!!! (He just earned brownie points by fixing the kitchen sink lol)

If hes willing to go to Church with you, giving him an Easter basket wont be a big deal.
Me and my kids are Jewish, my husband is Catholic. He does not go to Church. We celebrate all the Jewish holidays, and Christmas with the kids. Christmas, well just because its fun;)
We dont really do Easter with them. I do hide Easter eggs and they find them and eat the candy.

When I was younger, my friends would invite me over for Easter dinner some years. I went, it was no big deal.
