Hoping someone will be able to advise me. We have a trip booked in August for 12 nights with free disney dining, and we have booked a 14 day ultimate ticket. I am on the verge of persuading DH to go back at Christmas for 11 nights, my questions are would it be cheaper for me to upgrade our tickets to AP/PAP ? Will are free dining be affected ? We would probably want to go to the water parks a couple of times in August would it be better to get a separate ticket for them if we upgrade?
Thanks to anyone who can help.

You can upgrade your tickets once you are there. An AP costs $675.71 including tax and unless you want both Disney Quest and the water parks then a standard AP plus a WP AP works out cheaper. A WP AP was about $100 before last weeks price rise.

2 sets of UK tickets will cost you £278x2 = £556 or about $889 at $1.60.

With an AP you get 10% discounts in the shops and you can buy a TIW card which might be useful if you don't have free dining in December.

If you will definitely visit again within the year, then it will probably be worth it. It won't affect your free dining and would also mean you might be able to get a discounted room for your next visit (AP discount).

If you use any of the 'plus' options on the Ultimate ticket, you would have to upgrade to a PAP and, unless you planned to do water parks again in December (unlikely?) then that would be a waste, in my opinion. The AP gets a discount on water park single day tickets so that would be a better option.

Thanks to you both for your help. Have took the plunge and booked 11 nights for Xmas. Can I ask where the best place to upgrade is? and any ideas what sort of price I should be looking to pay, we have 3 adult ultimates and 1 child? Sorry final question do we have to upgrade as soon as we get there or can we leave it till the end of holiday I am going to get seperate water park tickets. Thanks again for the help.

You will need to use the tickets at least once and, as I said before, do not use any of the 'plus' entries. Tickets will need to be upgraded within 14 days but you don't need to do it right at the beginning.

We have found we have the best success with upgrades at Guest Services @ Downtown Disney.

I can't help you on price, I'm afraid.

Based on current exchange rates I would reject any price greater than $217 for an adult ticket. The child will be a bit more as there is no 3-9 pricing on APs.

I would upgrade early in the trip so you can use your discounts :thumbsup2

I would try any GS or ticket window once you have used the ticket once - if you are happy with the price upgrade them. If not ask again somewhere else :thumbsup2

We did it in Hollywood studios guest services. Found there the cheapest, DTD most expensive so you have to try them all.
