Ugh, I am in need of some objective advice here. We have our booking for the Osborne Lights dessert party in December. For only $5 more per adult, we could do the Christmas party (more for kiddo, of course). I'm making a little list of pros and cons and not really coming up with anything helpful. So far, I have:

Dessert Party Pros:

-starts and ends earlier (kiddo is 6)
-includes booze
-cute blanket souvenir
-might help with overcrowding issues that caused us to have to leave after five minutes of seeing the lights last year

Cons:

-I mean, $70 for maybe two over sweet cocktails and a cheap blanket?
-We would still have to wander around in the crowds to see the lights
-Less value per hour overall for the cost, the lights are sort of "one and done", no?

Christmas Party Pros:

-Fun stage shows and dance parties
-Jack Skellington- if kiddo could meet him, it would make his life complete
-Easier to get back to the Polynesian from at night
-Cool characters

Cons:

-Kiddo may not last past an hour and a half anyway
-We could book at BLT next year and just do the party then and walk back
-Parade is free on our last day anyway (the 20th)
-It snows enough here that the fake snow doesn't appeal to me that much

Also, it's my mom's first and possibly only trip to WDW in December, so there is that.

Any advice to help me decide :)?

What are you planning on doing the day of the party? A lot of people with kids make it a pool day or DTD day and head back to the room so the kids can take a nap in the afternoon.

As far as BLT vs Poly, you can take a boat back to the Poly which could be just as fast as walking to BLT.

The snow is more like suds in the air and would never really be confused for snow (You probably know that). It make your pictures look like it is snowing but unless the temp is really low it does not feel like snow.

I am not a big fan of the dessert parties due to the price and what you get for what you pay, so my advice would be to go to MVMCP and have a blast!!! Just try to get the kiddo a nap and you'll be fine.

Lights. This is the last year.

The MVMCPs will be with us always. And if this year is any indication, next year, they'll start the week after Halloween.

As Long as you can go see the lights still do that and spend the money on the Mickey party. Dessert party is not that special and the blanket is lame.

Fwiw, my 2.5 year old had a blast at the Halloween party and made it the whole time in sept. Heading to the Christmas party tomorrow :)

We were going back and forth between the two and settled on the party. We just felt you get more out of it, so it's more worth the extra cost. You can see the lights without paying for the dessert party, but there are things at MVMCP you can't see outside of the event. And after looking at reviews and pics from the dessert party, I'm very happy with our choice.

We are actually doing the dessert party. We did MVMCP last year and honestly last week at MNSSHP I realize how much better that party is. So we are skipping the party this year and enjoying the last year of the Osborne lights.

I actually booked and extra day at Gaylord palms to see ice instead of going to the party.

If your kiddo is only going to last for an hour and a half of the party, it may not be worth it. Unless you have a stroller for him/her to sleep in so you can stay and have fun. I never feel like the party is much different that other nights - other than the free hot cocoa and cookies but we don't have much of that anyway and treats can always be purchased. I do love the Xmas parade but you said you'd be there for that on other days.

As long as you're going to see the Osborne lights at some point, you don't really need to do the party. It could be fun to have some desserts and sit in the special area while soaking up the Christmas spirit.

We are doing both this year because we have a short trip and don't want to miss anything. I definitely want to make the last year at the Osborne lights extra special!

So, I voted for the Osborne lights. It's the last year, your child doesn't stay up late and you'll be able to sit and enjoy the lights and indulge.

Honestly, you really don't need top do either one. I feel like they are both a waste of money and you can experience it all without paying for the special parties.

These are all great points :)!

Kiddo is 6, so way too old for stroller. I am hearing poor reviews of the dessert party so we might cancel that one too :(.

MVMCP......You can see the lights without the dessert party. After reading your pro's and con's I would be more "torn" but I would still choose MVMCP.
