Advice from fellow fearful ride folks?

I do not necessarily advocate drunkenness while in WDW, but perhaps an adult beverage or two before hitting the parks might help you to relax a little bit? Or if you are going first thing in the morning, maybe a few drinks with lunch would loosen you up, just enough so you don't hurt your neck tensing up? Hope you find something that helps! Good luck! :wizard:

Ya know, I hadn't thought of this angle! Of course, it's a little tricky in MK what with the no-alcohol thing happening, but maybe if we return for EMH, or I try something daring, say, at Epcot first.... ;-)

I have enjoyed hearing everyone's experiences and encouragement -- I'm so proud of all of you who conquered your fears (or at least gave it the old college try!). I've been thinking about this a lot (well, but of course -- 17 days to go AND all the great input) and I think the bottom line is figuring out what "enjoyment" means. If I'm sitting it out on a bench and feeling sad that I'm missing out, then that's my tip to at least TRY so I know if I'm happier on the bench or on the ride! I know I'll like at least ONE of the rides (Splash is sounding the most promising). And if I do ultimately pick the bench, I'll be happy knowing that's the right place to be.

It makes such a big difference hearing from fellow ride-weenies (LOL), since those who don't share these fears just don't understand....

I would try barnstormer, its the fastest rollercoater i've ever been on, it takes more time loading then the actual ride. So if you don't like it then its over fast and then you never have to do it again. Splash mountain on the other hand, if you don't like drops I suggest riding it with caution. But I don't like rollercoaster drops and I love splash, The first time I rode it I think that I scared myself into thinking that the drop was horrible but once I got off the ride, I can't believe I've never rode it before! My daughter hates Astro-Orbiter, but that was because she stayed at the bottom (she never went up and you feel the pull of gravity is worse.) Me and my other daughter went staight up to the top and didnt move, the ride was beautiful and didnt bother us at all. So I would try that, because you never get a more beautiful view of the park than on Astro-Orbiter.

That reminds me, on "Splash Mountain", when you come out on top of the hill, at night that's a beautiful view too, with the castle all lit up. With DS, we went on it about 3 times.
