We are planning a trip for 10/21 through 10/30. Currently have a reservation for VWL but am planning on calling MS tomorrow to waitlist for BWV. Does the waitlist need to come through for the whole reservation? I feel like the chances of that many nights in a row will be impossible.
I'm wondering if I should split the waitlist for the first part of the stay and the second part of the stay giving me a better chance since there will be less nights. At least then we may get a few nights at BWV closer to F &W.
How does this work? Will they even do this?

Shorter wait lists are much easier than longer ones. I have read something about not being able to wait list consecutive nights separately, but I think in your case they might since what you are asking is to wait list different parts of your stay.

They will not give you day by day waitlist anymore. If you waitlist for 10/21-10/30 then the entire segment has to be available at the same time in order to get it. Obviously the larger the WL, the harder it is to get. You could call and if the first part is available, you can book it, and waitlist for the remaining parts. Beware, I just booked a reservation for 10/21-29 yesterday and there were no studios available, but there were some 1 bedrooms available. I took a 1 bedroom. As of yesterday the 21, 22, 23 were not available, but the rest of the week was. Yesterday was a long time ago and lots can change in an instant when booking a DVC room. Good luck! I was hoping the preferred studio would be available at the 7 month window, so had to have a back up plan. Since your 7 month window was 2 days ago, you are already behind.

I think you can only have 2 active waitlists so you may be able to split it into 2 different waitlists. Give it a shot, you never know. Good luck.:wizard:
