AVG Free edition, Avast, or Microsoft Security Essentials are all very good. Unless you are an enterprise there is no reason to pay for an AV program.
I've used all three and like them all but AVG is the most lightweight and is what I have on my laptop.
Thanks, George. I'm just a little bit irritated right now. I don't let people use my computer. But, my brother in law wanted to check his email, so I let him. And, before he used the computer it was fine. After he used the computer not fine. Now I can't prove that he did it, but the pieces sure do fit, especially when he decided to check the weather and went to a website and completely typed the wrong address and ended up at an adult websie. I hope this works.
Hey there Madi100!
I am soooo sorry to hear that you're having issues like that. It is so frustrating to maintain a clean computer then have somebody come in and screw it up in one second.
My question is are you sure that it is a virus? More often then not my friends have Mal-Ware or Grey-Ware that is wreaking havoc on their systems!
Regardless of what it is I HIGHLY recommend the two following programs:
MalwareBytes
&
Ad-Aware
Both are tremendous programs that are FREE and CLEAN! You can buy more intricate, higher functioning versions that will auto-scan and auto-update but the free versions work just as well. Try them and see what they find! You CAN install both as I have seen NO conflicts.
I am running a Windows Vista system with both. If you have any questions or concerns you can PM me or write on this thread as I will be online for several more hours as of June 1st 2010 @ 11:20PM EST

Have you kept your machine patched? Microsoft had a patch for this worm a while ago.
