Advice for DH and DD2....

We have a great afternoon and evening planned at the MK on January 29! My DD4 has a 3:30 appointment at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. Then, we go to dinner at 5:15 at Cinderella's Royal Table. After dinner, we're off to the Pirate and Princess Party. My question is this... My wonderfully sweet DD2 is too young for the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, but she loves to get dressed up. She has the most adorable Snow White costume that she wants to wear to the Pirate and Princess Party. I'm sure I will be the one taking DD4 to the boutique while DH keeps DD2 occupied, but where is the appropriate place to change her into her costume? DH is all thumbs when it comes to doing hair and "putting in the pretties" and such. I'm afraid of what she'd come out looking like if he did her hair!:scared1: Is she too old to take into one of the "baby stations"? Any special things that DH can do with her while DD4 gets pampered? We want to make sure that she doesn't feel left out.

I would leave your DH and DD2 at your resort and just have them meet you at CRT. DD2 might need the extra rest, and your DH wouldn't have to keep her occupied. Maybe they could find the playground at your resort - I don't know if every resort has one, but many of them do.

As for dressing up, maybe she would be happy with just a crown or matching headband? That would be easy for your DH, too. And maybe some special "treat" like lip gloss might amuse her. My DD3 would be happy with those items.

I would bring a change of clothes for your DDs in case the costumes become uncomfortable. I just put DD2's costume over her clothes (leggings and a long sleeved tee), so I could just pull it over her head. If it is cool (which it might be in the evening), they might need the clothes under the costumes. Also, I was able to put both costumes (DD2 and DD6 at the time) in one of those large (2 gallon?) zip loc bags. The costumes are of thin material that can be squished.

Have a great trip!

I agree with the above post. I'd be sure the younger DD gets some special lip gloss so she can feel pampered and pretty too. She is not too old for the baby care center and if all 4 of you are going to be at MK for the afternoon, then I'd send DH in the baby care center with the youngest DD to get her costume on, maybe save the lip gloss for when the 4 of you meet up (lol). As far as her hair, if you are using a big red bow or a red headband, then just have your DH practice a little beforehand. You could always adjust it when you meet up. Or you could even wait to be the one to put her hair pretty in when you meet at CRT.

If you are arriving at MK in the morning that day, it may not be a bad idea to send DH and the youngest DD back to the resort for a nap for DD. Then you and older DD can go to BBB and your DD can plan to meet up with you at CRT for dinner. That way, as above poster said, DH can dress the younger DD right at the hotel after she wakes up from a rest/nap.

Sounds like fun, enjoy!

I too recommend a second change of clothing just in case.

I do have a suggestion for your younger DD. Have you thought about taking her to the Harmony Barber Shop for a little sparkle of her own? They will put your DD's hair in a pony tail or just spray her with a little hair spray and add a little glitter confetti to her hair for just a couple of dollars and she'd have her hair all done special as well. My DD LOVES Miss Penny at the Barber Shop. We go at least once a trip to visit her and get DD's hair cut.

This is perfect! I was going to get DD2's haircut before our trip. I think now I will wait. It doesn't need it that bad and it will be a nice bit of pampering for her to get it done at the MK. Can they actually wash it and cut it and all there or is it like the BBB where they can only style it? This will probably take up just the right amount of time and give DD2 the pampering and attention she needs.

We don't have any morning plans for that day so we will be spending the morning at the resort (OKW). We're planning on heading to the MK together (haven't decided if we should drive or take the bus:confused3 ) for the afternoon/evening.

I do have those large plastic Ziploc bags, hadn't thought of using those for the costumes, thanks for that idea!:thumbsup2

I also have the red, sequined bow headband that goes with the Snow White costume so hopefully, the barbershop can give DH a good "head" start:lmao: !

Thanks for all the great ideas!

I'm kinda new to this Disney with kids thing. Last time we were there was our honeymoon, and we didn't have to worry about kids at that time. I had no idea what the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique was, but now that I just looked it up I had to hide my tears from my DD! I can't wait to suprise her with that when we get to Disney!!! I have the same delima though, my youngest will only be just 2 when we go, so I'll have to figure something out for her to do for that time. We are going with both sets of grandparents, so it probally wont be a problam, but I agree that I will most likely leave her in the hotel room with them while I take my oldest, and then someone can take her out from there. BTW, what package are you going to go for? I'm going to get the second one I think. I don't want to spend all the $$$ for a costume and such that will be itchy and could get dirty - maybe can she just wear an old one from home? So excited now! You learn so much from these boards!!

The Barber Shop can cut her hair but they don't wash it, they'll just spray it down with some water. The folks at the Barber Shop are awesome!

My DD loves Miss Penny so much that she fusses about having anyone else cut her hair, wouldn't be a big deal if we lived close to the parks, however, it's a little far to go for a haircut from VA. They can also put colored gel in your DD's hair, we did that this last time, Penny put in just a little because she knew my DD would be touching it, but she added pretty princess confetti, little pumpkin carriages and dancing princesses on the gel. Those stayed put for quite awhile.

Chris,

Was the last barber shop trip after 9/10/07?? Also, did your DD get a cut, or just the updo with the gel and pretties?

I am asking because no one seemed to be sure about whether they would still do the $5 or $7 updos once BBB opened at MK. I thought they might WITH a haircut. Thanks in advance for letting me know! :goodvibes

One thing to keep in mind is that it can be very cold at night. Last year, we ended up having to buy hats and gloves for the P&P party and DD3 went as a pirate because that was warmer than the Cinderella dress Grandma had made. We're going to P&P again this year on 2/2. We'll bring the dress but be prepared to be all be pirates in pants and warm jackets.

I guess it's like everyting else -- have a plan but be flexible.:wizard:
