I have no idea what I did to my back, but it is killing me. It started with some stiffness in the lower back on Friday at work. Yesterday it was worse and today I can barely move. I have had back problems in the past but usually it gets better after a day or two.

Any suggestions? I have taken tylenol, advil, and today DH bought me some Aleve (which didn't touch it & I can't take anything else until midnight tonight).

It feels best if I walk very slowly on the treadmill. The worst is sitting for any length of time. I can lay down, but turning or moving is a major production...and it takes me about 10 minutes to hoist myself up! Luckily I can work with it (I think) but I am not looking forward to it.

Any suggestions?

I DO have some oxy left over from my broken arm & surgery this past summer...:rolleyes1

My husband hurt his back recently--actually he has two compressed disks--and he likes the Thermawraps. They are like a bandage that you strap onto your back, and it acts like a heating pad.

My back hurts me often for no apparent reason. A few weeks ago all I did was open the dishwasher door and I felt my back twinge. The next day the pain started and lasted for 1 full week. This is only one story of all the times my back hurts for no reason at all.

Anyway, the only thing that helps me, aside from going to the chiropracter, and taking tylenol,is putting the ThermaCare wrap on my lower back. The heat from it feels so good for several hours.

Stretching slowly helps alittle also.

Uh oh - once you start back problems you have them the rest of your life. I used to get a lot of back pain but ever since I started exercising on a regular basis I am pain free. I usually take motrin and use a heating pad.

If it gets worse call your dr. Mine gave me muscle relaxers because the pain made me so tense and it just would not go away. Once I took those I was better in a day!

Sorry for you- back pain it is the worst:(

I once had a Dr. put me on the prescription equivalent of Aleve and he told me that it would take a few days to work. I so feel your pain my back did the same thing when we were traveling to DW last October. I used to have good luck with Doanes pills they are supposed to be for back pain but for some reason when I tried them this last time I just felt like a camel, I kept waking up at night and having to painfully pull myself out of my vacation bed and go drink tons of water. Also I bought a girdle and wearing that gives the muscles a little extra support which seems to help quite a bit. Good Luck to you, I hope it clears up soon. Mine usually takes about a week for it to clear up.

When I hurt my back a couple years ago I slept strictly on my back and kept a big pillow under my knees, it did help & the only drawback is that I'm now a permanent back-sleeper:lmao:

Ice and a chiropractor.

Hope you feel better soon.

When I injured my back - turned out to be a ruptured disc :( - The best thing that helped was ICE and an anti-anflamattory - Aleve being one of them. Doctor prescribed 2 different muscle relaxers and I had to go to physical therapy. When I have a flair up I definitely feel better by icing the are of pain. I was also shown a bunch of exercises that helped reduce the pain and stretch out the muscles....this was the best http://thermacare.com/exercise/lb_extension.jsp

but their is a list of lower back strengthening exercises that might help. Hope you feel better :grouphug:

I wonder if you've herniated a disc. I had that happen about a year ago and the pain was almost unimaginable. I couldn't even roll over in bed. If you're still hurting in the morning, you might want to go to the doctor since this is a new thing

I have issues with my sacrum and when it gets out of whack, I do have mobility issues...especially pregnant.

I have been able to get it treated--so when it flares up, I know what to do.

My best advice if you really want to know a source---speak to your doctor and then get a referral to THE BEST physical therapist you can find who will assess your body and check things out and then prescribe therapy for you.

In my case--it turns out I had a few things tipped and torqued (including the sacrum) and a tighter than tight psoas muscle that needed releasing. I was able to get all that fixed and then use core strengthening to help stabilize the area better so it wouldn't happen again. Now I am 8 months pregnant and it is all out of whack. All I can do is some minor adjustments--but I can't get the psoas part done until after the baby (it is accessed from the front and baby is in the way).

YMMV and back pain is such a hard thing to figure out. Best of luck! I'm lucky that I can have it fixed without the aid of medicine. My hubby is not so lucky. When his back "goes out" it is drugs and rest for a couple of days and then he is fine for a year or so until it "goes out" again.

:thumbsup2 Ice, Advil, and physical therapy.
