Advice please… my DD will be flying to MCO one day early then transporting to Port Canaveral to meet up with friends for a 4 day cruise (friends are taking the 3 day cruise just before and will be already onboard). What is the best way to handle a hotel and transportation? She will be 6 weeks shy of her 21st birthday so getting a hotel is proving tricky unless she does a Disney hotel. Recommendations for how to handle this and for hotels/transportation options are welcome!

If she can book a Disney hotel then book one of the value resorts and add on DCL transportation to the port. That seems the easiest. I have stayed solo at WDW a few times, yes I was in my 50's but I felt very comfortable being solo. I have also taken DCL transfer solo...again very easy.

As far as getting to a Disney hotel from the airport....an Uber or look into the Sunshine Flyer bus from MCO to WDW.

I think staying at an all star or pop for the night then DCL transfers in the AM might be the easiest thing to do. I did one night alone at Disney when I was in my early 20s and stayed at Pop.

If she wants to avoid having to get to WDW, she could even stay at the MCO Hyatt and take DCL transfers from there. That may be more expensive than a value resort at WDW, but be sure to include the cost of an Uber or transfer service from MCO to WDW when making that determination.

You need to be 21 to check into the Hyatt.

I agree with others; staying on property and using their transportation to the port seems like the most straightforward option. It'll cost a little more, but it eliminates trying to coordinate multiple things.

That's too bad because it is a very convenient option, but staying at a Disney hotel is a good option too. What I do love about Disney is that they will handhold you all the way, aka: here's where and when to meet, here's where to put your luggage and the time it will be picked up, check your name off a list, walk you to the bus, point you where to go when you get off the bus. I'm in operations and I love going to Disney and letting someone else do all of the logistics for me. I literally feel my shoulders relax as soon as I get there.

Mears or Sunshine Flyer from MCO to Disney, then you're in their hands until they dump you back at the airport. It was even better when it was DME because you put yourself into their hands as soon as you got to the airport but it's only a little extra step. Just as long as OP's daughter knows where to go to get the transportation (opposite sides of the airport as I understand).
