I need help. I thought my decision had been made. We (my spouse and I ,age 45, no kids). Had decided on the CR concierge level- bay view for our first WDW visit together in April- my spouse has never been. But then they closed the Cali grill during our stay in April 2013. We love a good dinner, but is it worth it to move to the GF or poly. I have never stayed at either. Though the last time I stayed at CR was 30 years ago. I did stay at the yacht club- 20 years ago and dont remember cbeing overly impressed with it. But honestly dont remember it real well.
Why I picked the CR to begin with was. Nice club level with good view, Cali Grill, A monorail that runs through the hotel- just cool, near MK- can even walk, recreation amenities. What I didn't like about it was no spa, not sure about the beach area or an area for an evening stroll. Now without a nice place for an evening meal will need to go to another hotel which we are doing 5 out of the seven days anyway, but it is nice to have one so close.

Stay at GF they have 2 signature restaurants that are very good. You are one stop via monorail to MK and the boat is also very nice. If view is more important stay at poly in a theme park view room. No signature dining there, but you can go over th GF for dining.

We love all 3 - Poly, ,GF (Main building) and CR club level. The lounge in the main building at GF is really wonderful. I love the view of Wishes from the Atrium Club at CR as well as from the Poly Club lounge. My favorite right now is CR - Atrium Club. (You can always hop on the resort monorail line for dinner at one of the fantastic restaurants at GF.)

On a pure food basis, I would vote for GF. We love Victoria & Albert's, and had a great meal at Narcoossee's, as well, when we stayed at the GF. It is pretty to walk around, and you can also go for a nice stroll along the path to the Polynesian (perhaps grab a Dole Whip there and watch the fireworks from the beach). I don't remember if the spa is still open there due to the construction, but someone will know. For atmosphere alone, we usually go with the Polynesian. I like the rooms at CR the best of the 3.

Good luck with your choice!

We really like Poly CL. Can't beat the relaxed atmosphere in the resort and the view from the CL lounge.:)

We've never stayed at the CR, but have stayed at both the Poly and GF and love them both for different reasons :). We love the Poly for the tropical atmosphere, the beach for watching the fireworks, and the volcano pool. The GF is also great, especially Royal Palm Club (main building CL). The RPC lounge is great and it's so relaxing sitting in the lounge listening to the band playing down below in the lobby :cloud9:. The GF also has great restaurants and it's on the monorail so it's convenient for visiting the CR and Poly. Good luck deciding, but you really can't go wrong with any of them :wizard:.

I would add their currently construction underway at the GF to build more DVCs. Also, the rumor mill is starting to surface the possibility the PR is going to being possibly starting a very substancial construction project. It could entail a resort redesign with possibily another DVC. Additionally, height survey balloon have been reported/photographed in the PR area too. The MK resort area in 2013 may be filled with construction and the CR area may be the safe spot.

I stayed at CR in March and I absolutely loved it. It is so nice to be able to walk to the MK and to board the monorail right inside the resort! I had a Bay Lake view on the 11th floor of the tower and it was so relaxing to sit on the balcony. The Contempo Cafe is great for quick meals too.

I can't comment on the GF or the Poly as I have not stayed in those, but I give the CR a big thumbs up!

I would recommend checking out pics of all the resorts and choosing the one with the decor you like best. They are all an easy monorail ride away from one other if you want to visit/eat at other resorts.

I've stayed CR Atrium Club w/ Bay View AND GF Sugarloaf in the last 6 months. I much much much prefer the view, vibe and location of the CR. Even though we had a bay view (much cheaper than the theme park view), we just strolled down to the club where had snacks, drinks, and enjoyed the theme park view from there each night to watch the fireworks. The GF Sugarloaf was nice, and the proximity to the swimming pool was nice, but no view of the theme park to speak of. The restaurants at all three of the monorail resorts are easily accessible from any of the other monorail resorts, so I wouldn't base my choice of resort on restaurant.

Having stayed all three my top pick would be GF and secondly Poly.

The service at GF was fantastic and property gorgeous

The Poly has the most relaxing atmosphere and the best views on all WDW property you really cant go wrong with either!

We always stay at CR MK view. We'll never stay anywhere else because we love watching the fireworks every night from our own balcony. It's worth every penny for us. We also enjoy watching the castle change colours, the water parade and the park view in general. Once we had a free upgrade to club level but we wouldn't pay for it because I don't drink alcohol and DH only has an occasional drink and we always do the DxDDP so the snacks aren't that big a draw either. I also like it because it seems like it isn't over run by families either. We find it quiet and relaxing. The pools are usually empty, but we go in January so it's only us crazy Canadians in the pool :cool1::cool1: Lots of nights we are the only ones in the pool, very peaceful.:thumbsup2 I always recommend CR and now that I have visited all of the other resorts I have no desire to stay anywhere else.
