Advice About GF

Don't know how much renting a bouncy seat costs... but you might want to weigh it against the cost of just buying one off Amazon and shipping it to the resort and leaving it. The Fisher Price ones are what, about $35?

I was gonna suggest something like that too. Go and get a cheap one at Kmart and leave it in the box and stick it in your luggage. Then just leave it there when you're done. I think the Fisher Price ones are about $25. So I'm sure you could probably find one cheaper than that at a Kmart or Walmart. JMO :goodvibes

Hi and Thank you all for your words of advice.

We booked our trip today and we will be staying in a Lodge Room.

My wife had requested the Concierge Lodge ... but they were all taken :confused3

Nonetheless we are very excited to be spending excellent family time down in WDW :cool1:

My wife even went out today with our little one and tested him out in the stroller we will be taking down. DW is getting excited like me. DS was talking about all the rides she wanted to try ... some new ones because she now meets another milestone in height :earsboy:

Thanks again ... all of your advice/suggestions have made a big difference.

I personally am a Poly fan, but I wanted to tell you that during our recent stay and using Magical Express, many pieces of "luggage" were bouncy seats, strollers and carseats....Just a thought...we went to the beach when my DD (darling daughter) was just 3 months and we took her swing.....

Welcome to the DIS! BTW, it's DW for Dear Wife.

The GF FAQ thread is very good. Here's a GF Map.

Sugar Loaf and Main building are both full service concierge with pre-planning available. They offer food, beverage, dessert, and cordials during the day/night and the buildings/floor are secure. We are staying in Sugar Loaf for our Christmas trip. SL Concierge food pictures.

The GF has lots of kids activities. The Pirate Cruise, Grand Adventure's in Cooking, Alice in Wonderland Tea, and a My Perfectly Princess Tea with Sleeping Beauty.

Have a great time planning!

Wow, thanks for the Sugar Loaf concierge pics! Looks great! What were the appetizers like?

Go to the GF FAQ page. Those are Jane2K's pictures. She said it looked fabulous!~ I can't wait to try it in November!

Can you take food back to your room?

What about beers :drinking1 ? I think I read somewhere that you can request a few beers from SLC now. Am I correct?

And the other important questions...

Was the coffee good and did they have half and half creamer or the nasty powder stuff? I am considering staying at the Poly just for the coffee at Kona that I have been reading about.

Can we stay in a King room even though the kids will be just turned 4 & 6? 4 y.o. ends up in our bed. Might as well make it a king to being with. And DH and I can't sleep well in a queen. I guess we could push the queens together?

Oh and ROLL TIDE!

KrisTX, yes SugarLoaf does have beer and wine available in the evenings.

You can take food back to your room. A few times I was nominated as the hunter/gatherer for my family while they were getting ready. The lounge staff was nice enough to give me a tray to bring back some coffee's and pastry.

The last time I was there, the coffee was still served in a beautiful silver carafe. Cream or milk was also contained in carafes and not in powder form.

I've seen the king bed issue come up alot on the boards. Because you're staying in Sugar Loaf, you should talk to the pre-planning department about a room request. I'm not even sure how many king bed rooms they have in that particular building. Ideally, you might want to ask for a king bed room with a queen sleeper. That way, if the kids do end up okay with sharing a bed, you'll be all set.

Thank you! A king bed with a queen sleeper is our most desired set up. That would be FANTASTIC! We send my husband out for food most of the time while I slather the kids in sun block :)

My current ressie is just LV. I guess I need to change that before I call the SLC about bedding choices. Or can I call them first so that I know if I really want to make the change?

Thanks again!

I am so torn between Poly and GF. I really need to just book this and be happy with it. I have a few days until the 90 day mark and want to get my PS taken care of.

Switched my ressie from LV to SLC. Poly was not available for the AAA rate. But I was able to get the SLC at the AAA rate. So I am happy.

The CM was wonderful. I talked to him for a long time. He said that there are rooms with a king bed and queen sleeper. And that configuration will allow us to have 4 people. He said that you were right that a king and day bed will not be booked because of the fire code. But the queen sleeper sofa does allow for 2 people. So, we are set. Now if we just get it :) If not, that's OK too.

Should I let them make my PS? They need to be called in THIS Saturday. Do you think that is enough of a notice for them to get them? Also, if you have stayed at SLC, what is your favorite room and why. Have you ever stayed in the tower rooms at the end?

Thank you all so much for your help.

Kristin

Kristen,

I'm glad to hear that the bed situation would work for you. Hopefully, that's what you will end up with.

The lodge tower rooms are nice and few DIS'ers have stayed there recently. There are 6 all together and the 2 on the very top floor don't have a balcony. All have garden views. Whichever style room you decide on, just make sure the IPO staff is aware of your request.

As to making your ADR's and anything else that you need, I would definitely give them the list. You can either call them, or just drop them an e-mail.

Tammi, are you sure there are six tower rooms in SLC. I didn't think there were any on the marina side? :confused3 BTW, congratulations to your son! :cool1:

Kristin, have a great time and be sure to report back please.

I think there are two tower rooms per floor (except for the first floor). I think that should total to the 6. Because yes, the tower rooms are only on the GV side of the buildings.
