Adventures with my DH DH **Actual Trip Report pg 3!**

Welcome back to your PTR!!! :rotfl:

I understand the dilemma...what about any of the EPCOT resorts without CL? You could probably have a water view and still save on CL. I was checking prices for next year and it was over $700 savings between CL and water view...over a $1000 if I chose std....

The time of yr of your visit does make it important to be near a park - and with the EPCOT resorts, it is two parks, so cannot go wrong. Are you using ME or renting a car - If a car, have you considered the Swan? These resorts still have availability so late? That's amazing!

Whichever deluxe you choose it wil be wonderful!! :goodvibes Happy planning!!!

Actually I have considered the Swan. I wouldn't mind that resort a bit, and DH doesn't care about the resort, just that it has a fitness center.

He is gripping about the weather though - he claims that if the temps aren't in the 70's this trip, he won't go back. I tried to explain to him about winter - and weather - but he won't listen. His first trip the temps were in the 40's with freezing rain, so I can kind of understand his position. :lmao:

I think I'll stay with BWI though. I am a little nervous about what to say if DH figures out that we couldn't possibly be staying there on points though. :rolleyes1

I found out the dates that Herman's Hermits are playing in April, so I'm planning that trip too. That one will either be the Dolphin or points in an OKW studio. Or, if a good deal like 4/3 comes out again, maybe we'll stay at POR again. I miss that place. :)

After all this talk about WDW this time of year, am seriously considering a short trip from 1/3 to 1/7 at BC or BWI or BWV - all are available with the 40% discount, so not bad at all..WL Courtyard view is only $177 plus tx, but it's not a real deluxe to me and rather isolated. Would have to go alone, but have friends who will be there the same time so only be in the room alone for the most part - but am not a solo traveler to Disney at all, so right it's a serious consideration only.

Back to your dilemma - you've got it all worked out!! :woohoo: It will be great and you'll not be sorry!

p.s. Really, you love POR? Why, do tell? Did not like it at all..it was okay...but would not go back...did like FQ though. :)

Oh I'd go if I were you! :goodvibes It's a great time to go - most of the crowds will be gone.... :) That 40% off would be a good excuse to go.

Yep - I love POR. I love the food court, the boat to DTD, the pools, and the atmosphere. I don't care for CSR, but I will stay there sometime soon so I can at least say I stayed there. It's funny you didn't like POR but liked POFQ, I didn't like POFQ. :upsidedow

I'm working my way through the "don't want to stay there" list I have, and BWI and CSR are on there. So is WL - I agree that it doesn't seem like a deluxe to me. Plus I don't like the room decor.

Here at WDW now! The room at BWI couldn't be nicer and the view is lovely! I'll post more later. DH is taking another nap and I'm on my way to DHS for the Osborne Lights. ;)

How exciting!! Thank you so much for letting us know ...and have a fabulous time!!! Can hardly wait to hear all about BWI CL - want to book it for early next December - which I can book now thanks to a 40% code...so details, please!! lol

It's picture time!

You do get a toothbrush and solar relief gel along with your usual soaps and shampoos. Turn down service is very nice, and the robes are a real luxury. :goodvibes

The standard CL rooms all look out over the Boardwalk. Nice, but very noisy!

So long and short of it is, with a 40% off code - book it!!! :yay:

WOW!!! I love it!! Did not know all std CL rooms look out over the Boardwalk, thought the view could be requested...I absolutely love seeing water (well, not a pool) so the view would be great. Going to give a call tomorrow...thank you so much for the pics!!! You know what they say...a picture says a thousand words...or something like that! lol

Keep havin' fun!

Yeah you! You'll love it!

FYI, the standard CL rooms have that view - but the deluxe CL rooms don't! There are 4 standard CL rooms that have king beds. If you request that kind of room through IPO they will do their best to get you what you want. They are a really great staff. :)

I'm a fast walker, and timed DHS at 12 minutes from the BWI lobby, EPCOT took 8 minutes, and BC took me 5. :thumbsup2

That's about the same time it takes me. We've stayed at BWV, BC and the Dolphin - I love the walk to the studios - long before there was a sidewalk we'd be on the boat commenting how it would be such a nice walk and wished they'd put in a sidewalk. So few guests walk to the studios...much rather walk (I love to walk anyway) than take that slow boat to who knows where. It.is.so.slow.

And the buses - when a bus is doing all 5 resorts,we usually get off at the first stop and walk to our resort. even when it's BW and Swan/Dolphin - S/D is usually first so we get off there and walk.

When do you head home? Did you get to do everything you wanted to? Oh! What kind of food in the Lounge?

Happy New Year!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR to you too!

I agree with you about the walking - I'd rather walk than ride as well. :goodvibes

The food was very good, nice hot oatmeal in the mornings, fresh grapefruit and other fruits, and at night we had chicken skewers two nights (one teriyaki and one that was more spicy), the best chicken quesadillas (sic) I've ever had, buffalo wings, chili, and spinach pies.

I don't think I need to mention the desserts, do I? :rotfl:

We did get to do what I wanted to, and a few more things I didn't think I'd get to do.

We ended up leaving a day early, since DH had to get home to the cats. (He's a little whacked when it comes to the cats. :crazy2:) I figured at that point, why fight it? He was crabbing about going home on the second day!

He was so terrible this trip I told him I would never take him again. I have two ASD kids that behave better than he does! :headache:

Anyhow, I have BWI CL booked for the end of our August trip on the bounce back offer. :thumbsup2 I know the kids will love it, and am using CL as my oldest DS's 18th birthday gift.

Did you book your trip yet Christine? Are you staying at BWI?

Hi, Karen! I had to laugh about your DH - and he wanted to go this time! :confused3 Men!:rotfl:

...sigh..no, I haven't booked yet...cannot make up my mind when or where...Hoping a friend will want to go b/c will not go solo...anyway...I'd better at least hold a room or nothing will be left with the discount.:rotfl: Pathetic, I know. I do like BWI CL, rooms are great, view is great and CL sounds like one of the best around. Polynesian GV CL - will not pay for that "view", GF is my fave resort, but their CL does not appeal to me, would rather have a good lagoon view room (LOVE the end rooms in Boca Chica), BC/YC do not have the greatest CL reviews....sigh...I'm stuck in the room decision!!

I hear you! If it were me going solo I'd just do POP. I liked it there too. :upsidedow

You do have a few choices there, why not just book one now, and then if you want to change your ressie later you can just call and change it? But then again I'm a big advocate of changing reservations! :lmao:

LOL I've no issue with changing reservations ever!!

Spent 2 ngts at POP alone - definitely felt safe and comfortable, just do not enjoy Disney alone.

This afternoon thinking maybe YC (std BWI views seem to be mostly over rooftops) - refurb was just finished - hold a std room b/c often a better CL discount comes out later. Mine is 40%, but lately 45% has been the CL offer.

Oh my..lol

Ooohhh - gotcha. :thumbsup2

YC is pretty nice too - I sympathize with your dilemma . Hopefully you can rope someone into going with you! :goodvibes

We left Michigan on Saturday Dec 26th, the day after DSIL (DHDH's sister) died of a drug overdose. Our trip was kind of off to a bad start, but DHDH wanted to go, actually insisted on going so we went. I made arrangements for all 6 cats top be babysat by the neighbor boy across the street, so all was sort of well.

We got to Lorton VA that night so we could meet the Auto train the next morning. DHDH wanted to go to a huge outlet mall the next day, so that was fun! We got on the train, and left for Sanford Florida. I love taking the train, but it was DH's first trip on it, so he complained all the way up to the time the train left the station. :sad2:

DH complains a LOT! He's actually more difficult to deal with than the kids. When we were almost to Sanford he started in on Disney. How he hates crowds, how he hates characters, how he hates the music there... you get the picture. :headache:

We got off of the train, which he actually loved taking and wants to take it again - and drove to BWI. We got there at 10:00 am and our CL room was ready! :yay: We got to the room and WOW! was it wonderful! The view was outstanding - a lovely view of the Boardwalk.

We really liked the Lounge, and loved the whole atmosphere of the resort. DHDH was actually singing along to some of the background music at BWI. ;)

That first night I had made ADR's for Bistro de Paris. I was under the impression - shows what too much dining research can do to you - that Bistro was the more casual French restaurant with food that you could pronounce. Oh, well. It isn't. It's a lovely fancy restaurant with subdued lighting and incredible food. :lovestruc

DH and I loved it! Then we went back to the resort, and DH decided to stay in the room while I went to see the Osbourne Lights. :yay: I had been dying to see the display in person, and was not at all disappointed. After I had my fill of dancing lights I saw the Muppet's 3d movie. It was just as great as always. :)

I walked back to the resort, and went to the lounge before it closed to pick up some goodies. DH loved the treats, and we munched on them before bed. That bed is wonderful BTW - so soft and with such a nice comforter. There was a lot of noise outside the room, but we still dropped off to sleep with no problems.
